Jackson in the video was described as number 2 on the list and Green had been at number 2 'at times' (in a positive sense). Hence they didn't show discussion of our number 1 interest. Could have been anyone.

We had Pick 2 (courtesy of finishing 17th). That was our first pick before Gold Coast we’re gifted a priority pick, pushing us back to pick 3.

I admit to be a card carrying pessimist and cynic but I have to confess being a tiny bit excited by the way the Club is going about it - and this was on show in the second half against the Crows where the intensity really amped up. The first episode was meh but the last two have been great viewing. Well done to the media department.

I hadn't thought of this. But I'm still not sure if they were referring to our pick or not. The gathering in Rye was mentioned at the time somewhere on these boards, which would provide a timeline and answer.

A compelling 17 minutes of viewing. Can’t really add much more, will have to watch that again.

These videos are getting better and better.

all the list look like they relishing the hard work and I hope we can transfer that to the games.

I thought it was just a given that Rowell and Anderson were picks 1 and 2, and green given he was an academy pick for gws was probably always going to end up there, so realistically it seems Jackson was the only player on the radar for us.

After the draft when the Demonland Podcasters interviewed Jason Taylor they asked him a question along the lines of did you rate Jackson up with Rowell and Anderson.

JT was very cautious in his answer saying he wouldn't give away his draft order but it hinted as a possibility they club rated Jackson higher than one of Rowell or Anderson.

Personally I'd have to think it could only be medical or psych testing knocking one of those guys down the order but it also didn't matter considering we never had access to them.

The club would've considered a lot more names than Jackson and Green but it's better to just leave it as 2 guys for the documentary than start commenting on a bunch of players we passed over.

Don't draft for need with early picks.

Oh [censored], we drafted for need.

I hope the bit with Richo was staged for the cameras. Jason Taylor's opinion not the pigeon hole him in a positional role didn't seem to get through.

I started to have tears in my eyes when the boys got around Kozzie.

Also loved the chant in the water at the end.

To witness the lengths this collective unit want to go to in order to make our club successful goes a long way to strengthening the connection between club and supporters I think. It might be my 'go to' piece of footage if I find doubt creeping in at any point during the season and am in need of a pick me up.

Whilst you all debate our draft order, why don’t you just read the real thing?? They gave it away in the video which I think is an error... Anderson not Top 5

Rowell, Jackson, Green, Young, Robertson

Come on mate, if we drafted Green he wouldn’t get a game in the foreseeable future imo given how many inside mids we already have. He’s literally another Clayton Oliver whose bid would’ve been matched anyway.

I reckon it’s okay for teams who AREN’T rebuilding (such as us) to draft based on need.

That was some pretty moving footage on a number of fronts. Harley clearly realises what an opportunity he's been given. I can't see him letting us down unless his body does.

The fatigue the players endured on the beach is already showing dividends in the way the ran the game out yesterday.

Im sure all clubs have this sort of footage,  but I'm genuinely excited after seeing this,  in particular the brotherhood on show

If they bid was matched that's fine, if not he starts out in the VFL for a year maybe 2 (see Tom Mitchell, Sam Mitchell, Max Gawn x 6 etc) and you trade out surplus players.

At the end of the day assuming Taylor put bias aside they had Jackson ranked higher, but the documentary is highlighting some lazy and outdated thinking that analysis particularly in the US where they study these things closely has shown to often end badly.

That was ***** brilliant!!  Coming on top of yesterday's win, to say I'm excited would be an understatement!

......... and by the way, I don't know whether ***** is 'legal' language on this site, but if it's permitted on the official MFC site, the Demonland  censors are obliged let it through!

That was absolutely awesome. We've got the cattle, we've got the coaches, let's go.

Favorite episode yet. That was great.

Very interesting that Gawn and Jetta came to Goodwin’s house for the new player induction but Viney didn’t.

I wish there were another 20 episodes of this.  It's ripping stuff.

That effort to help Kozzie over the line was gripping, and it fills the heart with pride as a supporter to see them get around him and support him right through to the end.

F .. kin brilliant!!!!!

Bennells emotion just shows how much it means for players.  I hope he gets back!!

If that doesn’t get you excited about the season, nothing will.

Agree Wise.  Fills the heart with pride and the eyes with tears.  Outstanding stuff!

Jesus mate, you really do look to deep into these kind of stuff too hard. We selected Jackson and that's it. Support the kid and move on..

Btw that was just brilliant... really gota real insight into just what goes on behind closed doors and especially the way Goody operates.

That was fair dinkum unbelievable - I loved every second of it, well done MFC, it made me feel emotional......!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can support Jackson - and support the drafting of Jackson - whilst still being critical of at least part of the footage. Of course it may or may not be as significant as the editing makes it look like but I'm only commenting on what we've been shown.

We haven't won a flag in 50 years and we crashed down to 2nd last at least partly due to some unsuccessful list management decisions over the last few years. It's reasonable to suggest we might not be making the best decisions. They also overhauled their analytics team in order to help maker smarter decisions.

But as I said the club had Jackson at 2 by the sounds of things and took their best ranked guy.

No mate, they were talking about pick 2, not their 2nd option. Likely that meeting was before the announcement of the priority pick.

Posted leading up to the draft that the club considered Green as the best player in the draft. That was clear in the video with the comments about if we needed another inside mid, which was obviously the deciding factor in the end.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
