You've opened up another of the so many angles of this Fabulous Famous Year, @Demons1858: we need to have a 'Lou-Richards-buries-the-Colliwobbles'-type burial of The Curse at the 'G as part of our ongoing celebration/commemoration of said FF Year. Do it, MFC.

Premiers 2021 from existing facilities - new training ground option no longer required 🏆 😂

But we're going to need more space for the next group of cups.

Let’s not follow Collingwood - it only took 31 seconds to excise the past.
We comforted ourselves with MFCSS.
Look forever to  future success, starting R1 2022.
Five or six of our team weren’t even born for our previous GF

I guess you're right, Radar! And victory on the 'G on (presumably) 24 September 2022 would constitute a fine memorial service 😉

It's my understanding that the new facility will be where the current car park F is and it won't be too far away.

The existing rooms are if looking at AAMI are to the right of the building and down the side. The gym, pool and meeting rooms are down that side. I have been told that the feeling is now it is too crowded with Storm and Rebels using the facilities. If the players need to use the pool they have to book it etc. I mean how long have we been using the same facilities together so surely this has been a problem for some time.

I just drove past AAMI and I cannot see how that side is a better option. There is a little bit of land behind the current AAMI building which is used by delivery trucks but to the side definitely a smaller amount of land (currently player parking) compared to the other side.  On the other side you could also definitely scrimp some land where the current pathway/bicycle lane stands.

Have you driven around Fishermans Bend/Port Melbourne?

dpostive it is not near the G. Just forget everything else. It is Goschs area, end of story. The Board and a couple of presidents have stated on numerous occasions it has to be in the vacinity of the G.

Given clubs tend to "follow the leader" any chance the arms race for better and better facilities will be flipped on its head and other clubs will decide to downgrade their facilities to Gosch's standard?

Makes you wonder about the "hanger" and the Hawks grandiose plan at Dingley. Of course we did spend a lot of time at Casey this year which is now a good ground with good facilities.

I think there is an excellent chance clubs will look at how we trained (specifically our reliance on team spirit and fitness over having 6 MCG-sized ovals and an olympic pool-sized weights room), then at the Hawks' giant facility, currently unfunded, and will dig out their own plans to supersize their training facilities, and go hmmmmm .... lotta money, isn't it?

I am not saying that clubs don't need good facilities MR but no amount of good facilities will make up for a lack of good players. Nothing will turn a sows ear into a silk purse.

Hope your mail is accurate @Dante. Car Park F area would be great, especially if there was a member's facility attached to it.

Less is more? As a bit of a minimalist I like your thinking LDVC.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
