I don't gamble. Just doesn't interest me. I can't stand pokies, I think i would rather pull out my toenails out than an evening playing pokies.

Gambling does create some real negative social outcomes but it is legal, it is taxed, adults can make their own free choices whether to partake or not and I csn't see why a football club cannot 'invest' in this sector to diversify their income sources.

Sometimes it is just not worth debating such serious issues, with those wedded to what they seem to be. Unlike alcohol, which yes, can be a familial curse, gambling goes way deeper in terms of corruption, which has already been proven and prosecuted. Yes, we are a sporting club, in a very competitive market, hoping like all clubs, we can attract and retain kids, who will end up being stalwarts. Kids do not need to be exposed to this curse.

May be time to get a start, a working bee at least.

I'm on the job hunt at the moment. Came across an opportunity on SEEK at the club. Location: Cranbourne.

Absolutely no offense to anyone that lives out that way. But how can the club seriously compete for talent across all areas of the club if it's seriously trying to tempt people to work there?

No public transport access. Horrendous traffic. Not to mention not the prettiest place in the world. Your talent pool is limited to maybe a 10km radius for a place like that. For people that live in Frankston area it might be appealing but even for those in the south East closer to the Bay... getting out there can be a real pain.

It's a shame because the job ticked all boxes for me, I'd have loved to apply. I live 8km from the CBD. It would take me 1hr 10 mins to get to Cranbourne... now. At 10:30pm. It's no wonder why it came up in the whole Petracca fiasco last year. It never really clicked for me why it was such a big deal until I saw "Cranbourne" written under a job ad for the Melbourne Football Club. How embarrassing.

Gambling is synonymous with footy now. The AFL and broadcasters are allowed to benefit, but not the clubs. Gee why would the AFL want it that way??

And realistically Casey Fields is not even in Cranbourne itself - it is another 10 minutes down the road if traffic is [censored], which it is any time there is an event on.

With the season now basically over, the primary focus needs to be the Demons Home Base at Caulfield Racecourse.

The new incoming MFC CEO Paul Guerra needs to make this issue his primary focus.

This is the only way we can have a bit of hope and see some light at the end of the tunnel for myself and many other Melbourne supporters who are suffering at the moment.

I didn't think players particularly enjoyed heading out to Casey but was surprised by the straight forward whack delivered by Goody today in the outgoing press conference.

I never really believed Casey was a really sore point but clearly it does frustrate the players/footy department a lot.

Would love an update from the club on this one. Obviously Pert was moved on recently as a consultant on this project and the club has prevented any work to be completed by Guerra on this project until he's officially in the chair in September. Is this because of his current role or current directorship at Victoria Racing?

So the 'Business Case' that was promised in mid 2025 obviously won't be able to be submitted/viewed until Guerra has signed off on it. I would imagine this would be close to being completed anyway but how long until we expect it to be finalised - supported by Guerra?

Would really love an official update from the club on this also.

Goodwin joking about Casey is as good as sign as any that we desperately need to sort this disaster of a situation out ASAP.

We don't really need any more evidence that the enormous drive out to a place that is (sorry to those who live there) soulless and meaningless to our club, with facilities that are the worst in the competition, will dissuade some from joining our club, and will motivate others to want out.

Getting the Caulfield Homebase built needs to be the number #1 priority for Paul Guerra (after sorting out the football department).

The biggest challenge is getting the $100 million or so to actually pay to see it come to fruition at Caulfield.
