  • Langdon: It’s really excited + refreshing to be here. There are lots of fresh faces around + the boys are excited to be back.
  • Langdon: There were a combination of reasons why I chose Melbourne. Mum + Dad live across the road, my brother is next door. Then the way the Demons played two years ago was unbelievable + just to hopefully be part of that is an exciting prospect.
  • Langdon: Obviously it was disappointing for the group last year. It’s a fresh start now. You don’t want to spend half a pre-season dwelling on what could’ve been last year. We’ve swiftly moved onto 2020.
  • Langdon: I just want to maximise my effectiveness + contribute to the team. I’ll give it a red hot crack. I’ve always prided myself on working hard, so if I can bring that, I’ll be happy.
  • Langdon on Harley Bennell: I’ve spoken to Harley + it’s an exciting opportunity for him. I think he’ll be here in a couple of weeks, so I look forward to training with him. Hopefully he can get his body right, as we know how good of a player he can be.

Just what we needed, another player with a penchant for starting sentences with “obviously”

Harley is already in Melbourne. Was posted on his Instagram yesterday. Looks to be staying in Southbank and Steven May had already taken him for a tour.

Did he really say "how good of a player he can be"? If so, what does he need to fix first? His grammar or his hairstyle?

I don't give two hoots about his grammar or hair stye. His playing ability is all I care about.

I suspect we did not interview Dusty because of the way he looked and we all know how that turned out.

Don't worry, Old Dee. With respect to the grammar, I'm just being pedantic and with respect to the hair, it's pure jealousy.

it's an improvement on "so,"

“What are the team hoping to achieve next year?”

In their defence, a lot of answers to questions pointed at them are deserving of having the word “obviously” planted at the beginning.

Obviously we don't want more players who start sentences with ' obviously ' , but I think it's nice to have loads of demonlanders who start and finish sentences with ' obviously', .....obviously.

But will he crack in and have a crack?

Stanley the Alves, wore No.15 with pride and was the complete wingman. Good choice for Langdon. (Stan also had the best blind turn and run-around balk - at top speeds - than anyone I have ever seen on the footy field. No sheet!)

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
