Time and methodologies move on. Perhaps it's time we rethought our ways as well.

As someone else posted it does seem that there are some posters (not you Nasher) that pot anyone who dares question our successful club.

No that's not correct, it's just that people who see things in a glass half full way don't really understand what the negativity and glass half empty approach achieves.

For the record the last Senior coach who didn't turn up to many of the Training Sessions was Mark Neeld. I guess he didn't think building relationships with his players and supporting and encouraging them at those times was very important. Go figure.

The time trial is not what they are training for, but rather a measure of one type of fitness.  Regardless of what they run in the time trial, the players are being developed around specialised programs and the time trial time is only a marker of where they are at now.  

DB spoke about the number of repeat sprints required for footballers, so this is probably more ‘match like’ to train than the 3Km.

Good to see the guys put in solid efforts, and I’m sure there will be PB’s and improvements for players.  However, I want to see them with footies in their hands, repeat sprints and skill training.  

Looking at the photos, so many players have returned in great physical nick, and are throwing themselves into a program that will make them better and ready for 2020. This i am liking!

i saw àn earlier video post of May where I noted(as surprised) that he seemed to glide along and did not appear to run heavily. Thought a less impact may be of value injury wise. 

Did you notice those who were a little lighter on their feet vs those that were heavy?

Pretty good Nelo, the closest i'd get to 3km would be around 15 minutes (and that's when i was relatively fit, lol)

I think Saty or others would have a better idea than me. I was following somewhere in the middle of the pack, so only noticed a few of them. The others may have watched from the home stretch. 

In the recovery period, most were struggling for relief. Indicating they pushed hard.

He has dropped some weight, looks ready to go (fittness) and I also think he glides.

May appears surprisingly quick over 10 meters, good closing speed. He is very determined to get to a contest and I can see him putting some fear into the oppositions forwards with his physicality.

Does anyone know the extent of Spargo’s injury? From memory he suffered some kind of knock in the leg last week during a session and now we’re told he’s in a moon boot. 

Hopefully it’s a minor one, unlucky if he misses a fair chunk of the preseason just when he would be looking to start strong for a bounce back season.

I think Saty spoke directly to him, mentioning that it was a sprained ankle and indicating it was not too serious.

Hopefully that means the boot is purely to stop the ankle moving, quicken the healing and on for only a short time.

Why is the whole group (apart from a few in rehab & Bennell because he isn't authorised yet etc) going into seemingly full on training more than three months out from the first serious match (ie; 1st rnd JLT)?

From what i've heard from experts in the fitness field (over the years when interviewed) it only takes approx 6 to 7 weeks (of full time training) to be cherry ripe for AFL football and any gains beyond that period are (apparantly) so miniscule it is not worthy of further pounding.

While i'm certainly no expert and some of those interviews (where that message was loud and clear by experts) were probably 4 to 5 years ago or more, has something changed signifiacntly that we have now added about 5 extra weeks or so?

I was wondering the same thing, especially when Melksham said they 'will leave nothing in the tank coming into round 1' and thought 'gee, I hope there is something in the tank for finals'!

I'm guessing the intensity so far is to give them a reality check on what didn't happen last year, drum into them the work it takes and because so many players were behind fitness wise last year. 

Burgess is a real pro and he may tone it down as it gets into the latter parts of the preseason.  Then ensure the team peaks at the right time ie September.

You need to look at combination of results to get even a moderate view of their overall fitness/endurance/speed. Would prefer a midfielder who was quick in repetitive 20/50m's and a 13:45-14m Tan than a 12-13min Tan runner...

Good analysis.

My view is that its great ANB is doing well, but at crunch time, can he please kick gimme goals and not break my heart this coming season otherwise its all for nought..

Wait didn't we spend a whole year complaining that our boys weren't fit enough because they were rehabbing till christmas

I tend not to complain about things that are beyond one's control Deefiant.  There wasn't much else i didn't complain about thIs season however ?

What I’d want to know is the improvements or lack thereof from last year. Or prior. Some players like ANB Jones and Tmac are aerobic beasts. They’ve constantly been up the front for years. They are most likely natural runners. Trac and Clarry aren’t likely to finish up them top but I’d like to see improvement from these guys. Which I assume we are. 
Also I wasn’t aware Bedford was such a good runner.

I thought the same thing this season ie he's surprisingly quick from a standing start. Really gives him flexibility. From memory he stood Cameron for a while and kept with him on the lead.

If he has dropped some weight and has a good run with injury (and prior to last year he was rarely injured) I think outside of gawn he might be our most valuable player next year. 

Having not been super impressed with Lever outside 2 or 3 games before his knee injury I was super impressed with his attitude in the last few games this year. More in terms of attitude and intensity than anything else.

In the sane way talia did a fit and firing will help lever no end. Takes the spotlight of him and allows him to do what he does best - intercept marks, zone off and third man into  aerial contests and float across half back. 

Dare I say it but a fit and firing omac will also support lever.

What makes you think they are going into 'full on training'? 

I suspect, but don't know, that they are getting a good base down the pre Xmas so they can really attack jan and Feb before tapering in March.

Emphasis on 'seemingly' Bin.  Who knows.  Probably something along those lines as you say.

    Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force for training at Gosch's Paddock on Wednesday morning for the MFC's School Holidays Open Training Session. DEMONLAND'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS REHAB: TMac, Chandler, McVee, Tholstrup, Brown, Spargo Brown might have passed his fitness test as he’s back out with the main group.  Sparrow not present.     Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training.     There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training.     A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
