Mate, you'd be surprised what I'm privy to. The sad fact is that we're severely underperforming off-field, culture has taken a downward turn under Pert, and the excuses of under-resourcing due to budget-cutting won't wash as the same issues were present last year.

The place needs more good people and operators, and to stop making amateurish decisions.

Not willing to, no need to. You can try to bait me into it but won’t work.

It’s all opinion anyway regardless of the basis.

Nice contradiction there. If you say something is fact and then say it is an opinion and refuse to elaborate further then what's the point in bringing it up?

I have heard very similar things, from very reliable sources, which express concerns about the off field culture of the club

Either provide info about this or why say anything?

My opinion of the above has more to do with the President than Pert. I have always been concerned that a Western Australian who played for Meth Coke is the President of the MFC

I am sure Glenn is a fine businessman, who networks with the “Right” people, but i wonder whether he is the President we need

it wasn’t just injuries that crashed us out last year, how deep did it go?

If Mach 5 is close enough to know that all is not well off field, then it better be sorted out quickly

Just my thoughts...

You may hear just as much along these lines as you do about the coach if the year doesn't go well.

Frankly you would expect a few rumblings in the off field area after 2019. Their budgeted figures were massacred and it is not too much to think that their sponsor KPI's were far from maximised (ratings and finals just to mention two).

The blame quite rightly fell on the coaching staff and in the main they are now gone save for number 1.

Running a club with the downs and relatively occasional ups of the MFC must be hell.... (but of course the puff piece said we are now back from hell.)

No one saw the possibility of 17th in 2019 nor did they see that the season would be effectively finished after so few rounds.

Next time you are at a medium level MFC match count the number of super boxes that are open. We've a long way to go.

Whether his is true or not I tell ya if we go through major off and or on field dramas again like pre Roos days I reckon that would just about do my head in with this club.

FFS they just need to get there [censored] together and KEEP it together for longer than 5 mins.

Is that so hard to ask for.

So who are these company's that you know the club are missing out on. Sounds like you are are well connected person so lets see what you got. Also what the assets that the club are  not over-commercialising?  Your  comments of me not knowing what you are privy to is just keyboard hero stuff. What I am saying as a fact is that in the current economic  environment, Sh#t 2019, reduced free to air coverage, this current Partnership team "NOT PERT" is doing a very good job.

Don't sit on your arze whistling dixie.   It doesn't help you or the rest of the keyboard souls on Demonland.

Most of us here want Melbourne to do well, even those others like me who have been through a number of Dark Ages.

You’re interpreting my words slightly incorrectly but I think that’s moreso due to a shallow understanding of some of the concepts involved.

I’m not going to reveal details because I don’t want to reveal sources or identities. But they definitely are NOT doing a good job and I’m concerned about how much damage will be done if things are left to continue.

I wish I were in a position to do and say more myself, but for now all I can do is say more scrutiny is required.

To be fair, and credit where it is due, Pert himself did foresee 2019, albeit not in such severity.

This is not so much about the footy side, but the overall culture and inner workings.

My biggest concerns are that we’ll squander our time in the sun like the Bulldogs, or that we’ll condemn ourselves to missing those opportunities altogether through our own ineptitude.

What a surprise

So your solution would be..?

Observe something concerning, observe something even more worrying, then another, then another... say nothing? Head in the sand?

Don’t be so naive as to think that because you’re not aware means it hasn’t happened.

Otherwise, what exactly do you think the motive is for “grenade throwing”?

What a surprise

'Mach' isn't a grenade thrower 'Pennant' and his info is generally pretty good.

I would take some notice of what he is saying in this instance...maybe the source has an axe to grind, this must always be considered in these things but the messenger is ok.

Obviously there will be people here claiming varying degrees of connection to the club. Some of it legitimate, some of it rather lofty. But regardless of the poster’s authenticity,  innuendo and allusion seldom serves to enlighten others in any genuine sense. I read through your posts, and all I could take away from them was that you’re not happy with the sponsorship department of the club, but you’re unwilling to state exactly why.

I’m not sure if this constitutes  “saying something?”

You can’t expect people to just take your word for it on what is, for the most part, an anonymous Internet forum. And you certainly can’t get frustrated when they don’t.

I’m not happy with the entirety of the club off-field, and they definitely don’t deserve praise. There needs to be a lot of change for us to have any real success, and some are downright derelict in their duty or negligent.

I’m not willing to say more at this time other than to call for much more scrutiny.

I say blow some whistles. Spill some beans. Emancipate a feline from a sack.

You’re not exactly revealing the identities of undercover operatives in war-torn territories, and you probably won’t suffer a Chelsea Manning-like fate if you actually tell us something useful. Until then, nobody here is going to share your specific concerns, because they literally have no idea what those concerns are.

Have these problems arisen since Pert took over, or did the problems exist under Jackson?

I'll take you at your word m5, but the question I have is what does 'more scrutiny actually mean in practice. Particularly as it relates to the context of a football forum.

Lets say your concerns are valid. More scrutiny might mean more unfounded criticism, gossip and potshots at the club, rather than balanced crtique. Particularly in tve absence of any real information.

And that sort of white noise can cause damage and actually make matters worse. Which is the opposite of what i assume you are hoping to achieve.

well you NEED to say more, otherwise the perception is you are doing nothing

if demonland is not a good enough forum then why bring it up here and say nothing?

Veteran Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin returned to the training track to bring you the following observations from Gosch's Paddock this morning. Beautiful morning for training. The dew has dried, out from AAMI, quiet chatting. Maysie does his heart symbol. 7 in rehab, Turner, Hore, Sestan, BBB, Petty, Spargo and Schache. All in runners. Melky weighted and change of angles work. Salem has his individual program. White cap (no contact), Howes, Woewodin and Sparrow

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
