FLUFF

Of course it is. What did you expect during the off season, a bombshell announcement?

If Oscar can get more strength in his body over summer and be able to hold his own in the contest, I think he might surprise a few next year. Not a star, but has a role to play and needs to step up.

Hard to overcome lack of ability but he had a hip operation to recover from last year. If he’s fitter, stronger and faster he has a chance.

Then it’s on the coaches to train some intensity in to him. When he plays with a bit of belief he usually does ok.

Cant say I’m confident but I haven’t ruled out all hope.

I was on the bandwagon early and thought he had some real potential.

Lost count of the amount of times this season i screamed at the TV for him to toughen the "you know what" up.

His 2019 was ghastly, and he needs to hit the peptides and get some decent strength about him before 2020 begins. Rag-dolled and turned inside out repeatedly this year. Needs to spend every waking moment in the gym this off season.

Unlike some, i really rate his kicking. Get some serious strength and Oscar COULD become a decent player. If not.... well, who knows.

I hope like hell every single one of our players is an improvement on the 2019 version. (Yes, including Max as that would be fuggin epic wouldnt it?)

Words....

In seriousness, Oscar Mac comes across as a ripping bloke. Hope he has a massive season and slots in as a regular in our backline.

I reckon an important part of his lack of strength was a drop in confidence but does need to build his strength.

not intelligence dimmy, speed of his decision making and subsequent execution. He's about as slow and lackadaisical as Garland was (he too was a very intelligent fella).

I reckon it's more likely to do with his gumby arms, and long distance swimmer hips, but each to his own.

He has some decent traits, but christ he was exposed this year. Lost count of how many times i saw him escort his oppo to an incoming mark, head down and 10m behind.

Should have been delisted 2 seasons ago. he is the jack watts of the backline with less football IQ. gives frees away unnecessarily and is a) too slow for mobile forwards and b) too weak for big forwards.

I would've tried him as a forward a couple of seasons ago just to make sure he was a flop up forward too before delisting him.

Too slow off the mark, too slow between the ears, out muscled in marking contests, and can't kick. Not even VFL standard.

Love how the club offload Frost for peanuts and then serve us up this tripe.

If omacs got any chance of improving he needs to start with a haircut.... Something like Nathan Carroll. Does anyone know his barber and could have a quiet word?

I have a feeling that he's one of a number of our players who's overthinking it during the game - going through all the game plan details, required positioning, set play sequences and so on, and he gets a bit of of paralysis through trying to do the right thing,  the thing others are expecting of him.

Methinks you're a naysayer, Kent. Please recall Oscar had a terrific 2018. As did a lot of Melbourne players.

What's a naysayer ?  I watch footy just like everybody else here. The ball spent 60% of the time in the forward half in 2018

Not tested in 2018  Wouldn't  rely on him improving no matter what he says on preseason Fluff.

Similar to weed he is a player who struggles when his confidence is down. Most players do but players need to find a way to work through that.

Strength will improve as he nears 25. But what he really needs to improve is his speed from a standing start. Hopefully burgess can work some magic with that.

I think there is something in that.

In part a function of not enough opportunity preseason to practice and embed structures, set ups, synergy and systems because of all the rehabbing and injury.

And of course the injuries in season, particularly in the back halft meant that  the same 22 never played together which just exacerbated the issues of the lack of synergy,  not everyone playing their role and lack of predictability.

They’re both just reflecting on things.

Albeit with ball in hand, during a heavily contested AFL game, in the middle of the MCG.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
