We keep Hibberd and Omac and move Frost on.

It doesn’t feel right to me, unless Burgess can make a new player out of Omac

we have to wait and see. Jobs are on the line, so it won’t take long to evolve

Well there you go. Time to log off until march....

I would like to think Mahoney is simply putting out there what is widely known. I wouldn't be surprised to know we're targeting a few others. And we'd want to but that may come out in the splitting of pick 3.

I'm sure we would have enquired about some support for Tom up forward, though it doesn't seem like there is a huge amount on the market this year.

Interested in Tomlinson "if he wants to leave GWS" judging by that article someone posted on the Tomlinson thread he is desperate to stay there. Seems like he'll be pushed out because of cap pressure. Wonder how it goes getting a player who is shattered he's been forced to leave.

I keep forgetting about Hore in the conversation around Frost leaving. We seem to focus on O Mac being a more direct replacement. I'd take Hore over Frost any day. I wouldn't take O Mac. In the balance of the backline if May and Lever play I don't see O Mac playing and with a fully fit backline I would think Hore would get a game ahead of Frost.

I reckon Elliot's main reason for leaving Pies would be Stephenson and Thomas are ahead of him for the same position. He might get a year more and a bit of cash more from us but I reckon that could be the biggest driver. I still be very surprised if he leaves.

A third club has entered the picture on Martin. Wonder if it's us. What do people think about him. I reckon he's got a great package but hasn't delivered. Too easily pushed off out of the contest. But great skills and good outside run. GC want a first rounder. I guess if we split pick 3 and gave them a later one it might work. Can't see how Carlton will get Papley and him. Don't think GC will want future picks.

Bernie Vince was openly shattered he was forced out of Adelaide.  Went on to win a Best and Fairest.

So pretty much we're a lock to get Tomlinson and Langdon and are up in the air in terms of Elliott

We'll lose Frost and Stretch to Hawthorn and Gold Coast and delist JKH

Reading between the lines the right package could definitely entice us to shuffle pick 3

Mahoney, Re Frost. Little merit given to Frosty 2019 performances cause we got Hore and Omac and overpaid for Lever and May. pathetic.

Losing Frost doesn't overly concern me

Losing Frost's leg speed from a team that seems to have absolutely none, worries me greatly

Just because someone can run fast means nothing. Some of the best teams over past years do not have quick runners but control and pass the ball correctly to their own team mates which then makes them all look quick.

You don't need fast runners (well maybe 1 or 2 guys that have some semblance of pace) if you have a team of players that can control the ball and make space and make the right decisions and don't just bomb it to a contest every time.

Leg speed....have a listen to Brendan McArtney's interview on SEN.  (it is on DL somewwhere) I found it really interesting regarding his insight into how a team can appear to be slow or fast.

By way of example he was saying that if the team is losing the contested ball the outside players tend to wait around to assist whereas when the team are playing like we did in 2018 the outsides can leave the contest sooner giving them greater space to work in.  I had never thought of it like that before and found it particularly interesting.

* Dees been active throughout the year in preparation for Trade Week.

* Want to add outside run (Tomlinson & Langdon) to play on the wing.

* Re: Sam Frost - great year but

* Re: Pick 3 - haven't had a first round in years. good quality in top 10. would look at deal with pick 3 to split pick.

* Re: Jamie Elliott - 3 year deal offered to him personally.

* Angus Brayshaw staying at the Dees.

* Alan Richardson hasn't officially started but has been at the club every day.

* Only coaching changes so far are Richo & Radford (Casey) and the ones that have know have left. No other changes so far. Sounded as if no other changes would be made which is strange.

* Captaincy will be decided in preseason. No decision on sole or dual yet.

* Tomlinson announcement should be early next week. Langdon still has to officially request trade to Melbourne but sounds like that will happen.

Very happy to hear Mahoney say Gus is staying, didn’t want to change profile pic two years running.

Yes Frost is fast and will burst out of D50 but how many times does he turn the ball over?

Pretty much every time Frost decides on doing some Frostball and [censored] it up it leaves us outnumbered in defense.

Petty still developing, will be a better option moving forward, who really wants to pay 500K plus for a player that other need to pick up the slack defensively because he cannot execute the basic fundamentals?

yes but we had nobody who could do that last year so what will magically change?

Garry didn’t like being called a ‘Melbourne man’ by Dal Santo did he? Shot him down pretty quickly.

That's not what was said. Don't understand why Dees fans do whatever they can to try and attack Lyon.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
