Is this the end of our trade period?

With the acquisitions of Tomlinson & Langdon and the departure of Sam Frost I haven't heard our name being bandied about amongst any of the other tradable targets. (with the exception of Sam Murray as a delisted free agent).

So are we done now?

Feels like this is how we roll most years. We get our targeted deals done about 3/4s of the way through and then sit back and see if anything else comes up for us. Most times is seems like that's it, but never know. Gut feel is we'll do the pick 3 split, but might not get anymore player trades done.

I hope not!!

I’d put good money on us not going into the draft with pick 3.

Agreed Beets,

We've got Langdon, Tomlinson and still a pick in each of the first three rounds

for Frost

I think Mahoney can't sit back comfortably and wait for teams to come to us.

some trade radio talk around Josh Bruce and/or Josh Jenkins.

Interesting we have pick 26 which will trump the dogs now in dealing for bruce.

Does anyone have an updated list? Considering 3 picks in the draft, how many spots are left to be filled?

I'm still holding out hope for something in the forward half to eventuate.

No idea if we're done or not, but so far:

  • The in's; Tomlinson, Langdon, pick 26, Pick 50, R2 2020, R4 2020,
  • The out's; Frost, Pick 22, Pick 42, Pick 61, Pick 79, R2 2020, R4 2020

Net effect:

Ins:

  • Tomlinson
  • Langdon
  • Pick 26
  • Pick 50

Outs:

  • Frost
  • Pick 22,
  • Pick 42,
  • Pick 61
  • Pick 79

4 in, 5 out. Maybe splitting pick 3 will be the balancing item?

My understanding is If we take the minimum 3 from the draft we have no senior list spots available. Therefore if we want to get anyone else in or take an extra draftee, we will have to trade or de-list either Stretch or JKH who are currently out of contract.

Thanks HBG. I reckon that means we're not officially done yet. We've kept those 2 spots up our sleeve in case something else comes up.

Josh Mahoney will be on trade radio.

We'll soon find out.

So am I FTB but don't hold your breath Good KPF's are rare beasts.

I think we will have to go into next season with the NQR's that we used in 2019.

5 spots available:  4 Out: Garlett, Maynard, Lewis, Frost plus 1 unused list spot from 2019.

2 spots taken:  Tomlinson, Langdon.

3 spots available for draftees or more recruits.

Stretch and JKH OOC and still unsigned so potential for more list spots.

Will shortly update the Contracts thread pinned to front page of this forum.

If anyone has the length of Langdon's contract please let me know.

Most likely trades done, but potential for DFAs still there

Well that clarifies it.

Apologies if I got that wrong, I was trying to listen to a race at the same time.... I thought that's what I heard storming down the outside.

When asked about the Frost trade he said they looked at it and Langdon as a package and said "keeping our draft hand was important for what we want to do during the trade period"

Sounds to me like we're not finished yet

Have a win?

would be good to have a list of who they are (as they become known)and when is the PSD draft.

Seems that Murray is possibly the pick of the bunch for a one year contract but I must confess to knowing little about who is available.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
