Broderick. Broderegar. Brodiegenhaarn. Brodear. Brodocea.

I'm sure we'll find a solution for Mr Kempington's unfortunate condition.

He's a very good chance to still be there at our pick 8.

Going by most reports, he's close to a certainly to be there at 8.

He's ours to lose.

Is there anything wrong with a sociopath or psychopath on the playing list? If they play their role on & off.

Youโ€™d be trying to identify those who crumble or throw their toys out of the cot at the minutiae.

They would probably be pretty harmful off field.ย  Prone to playing idiotic power games and manipulating people for personal gain.ย

All of this nonsense for a fluffy ball?

Come on guys.........

ย

The highlights vid of Kemp looks sensational. I'd be smiling if we got him at 8, although we all need to remember how Norf supporters carry on whenever draft time comes about. They "won the draft" year after year.

There are still as many misses as hits in the top 10.ย  Would be nice to finally get some stars on the list.

Yes - thereโ€™s a bit of a shock at No. 2 but not much of a shock for those who have been following this draft for longer than the last month. Tom Green is very, very, good.

But the real shock might come for those of you who are fixated on us picking Brodie Kemp at No. 8 - have a look at where heโ€™s rated here.

Plays like Kyle Langford? Guess the Hun needed to get one of their precious Bombers in there.

They could have at least tried to make it a good one.

Still rated at 21 after missing half a season.ย  Champion data rankings are stats based.ย  Kemp will be a gun and had he not done his knee he'd be in top 5 or 6 calculations.

I spent some time this morning relaxing in front of the tapes.ย  Because what else do you do when you've got all the pastries already in front of you?

Even moer than both of these guys being decent marks, far from soft, long icks and having good vision and awareness - they both have initiative.ย  Neither of them need to stop and think or need to run backwards from the mark a bit to change their brain into gear before they look around.ย  I especially liked the times, for both of them, when a mark slipped or something else didn't quite connect and theere was not even time for an 'oh bugger' before they were back into it based on the new situation. Several times there was an instant recovery (i.e. dropped mark followed by getting the contested ball) or they influenced the play to limit the damage.

Give us 22 footballers with that mindset thanks, Mr Taylor.

Swooper got in before me. Champion data is based on... data.ย  It is kind of impressive that Kemp is anywhere on the data radar.

Surely itโ€™s based on data averages, not aggregate.

Not sure why Kemp gets so much love. Good size, but I think a few too many have been sucked in by the Dangerfield comparisons. Heโ€™s not the first utility to come along at 192cm.

I don't think Dangerfieldย is a good comparison. He doesn't have the explosive movement that is Dangerfield's biggest weapon. He does have a lot ofย power though, and knows how to use his size and strength to break through tacklers. He is also a good mark and kick and executes under pressure. I see a lot of upside there.

Interesting that Cooper Stephens, who played 2 games before breaking his leg and missing the rest of the year, is ranked at 16.ย

It is indeed, but Cooper Stephens would never be in top 10 consideration. Be interested to see champion data rankings for Alex Rance at the moment.ย  They provoke discussion but I wonder as to how relevant they actually are. My view from watching games (not stats) hasn't changed.ย  Young and Kemp will both be very good to excellentย AFL players.I hope we take them both.

I have no idea how they arrive at their rankings but i wonder if the data is a tad weighted towards factors that tend to result in inside mids accumulating somewhat more favourable outcomes vs someone who doesn't play alot of timeย at stoppages.

I can't speak for Stephens as i can't recall seeing much of him in the Nats (inj?) but Kemp spent minimal time as an on baller, mostly playing up forward.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
