Thatโ€™s about it unfortunately, just no good come game-day. One too many dear in a headlights moments, reminds me of Toumpas.ย

With all the delistings, retirements & coaches leaving, I must say I am pleased that you may be moving on. Undervalued & strangled by a club & coach....IMO. Good luck also to JKH.....hope you also find a new home if delisted.

Both blokes up against it when coaches preference was 22 bulls.

A trade to Gold Coast would be a win-win for Billy and the MFC.

Itโ€™s not as though he hasnโ€™t shown glimpses.ย For whatever reason we havenโ€™t seen enough of them.

Seems a ripping kid who youโ€™d like to see do well. A move up north couldย be the making of him. Heโ€™d setย a training standardย for other draftees to follow and perhapsย a leadership role will help his professionalism translate onto the field.

And the fact that they have both been average footballers at best that really never delivered.ย

Ha ha yeah maybe D3 but unfortunately the options that were used in their place didn't do much to excite this year either.

Billy prepares himself to a high standard but generally doesn't bring it to game. There was a game where he bought his best against Hawthorn in 2016 and endedย up winning by 29 points.ย  That was his best game IMOย 22 disposals and a gaol when it counted in the last quarter.

Although he is only 23 now at another club might do him good asย  I am hoping it does.ย

ย

Casey will miss him.

With today's re-signings, you'd imagine it's curtains for he and JFK.

I think there are now clear signs - the others all just re-signed have some (potential) upside that maybe Billy and JKH simplyย dont in the clubโ€™s eyes,ย ย and the chance to shop them around might be best for both. ย If not, they might be late delistings before list lodgement.

Surprised we signed so many. ย The club must truly believe 2019 was an aberration. ย If not, there should have been blood on the floor.

He's got great training standards, and seems like a wonderful young man but just doesn't quite seem to be an AFL level player. he's a very good VFL player at this stage.

if you as an outside mid can't break into a side with no outside mids consistently you're maybe just not quite up to it.

Well, as his dad mentioned in his Demonland interview, Billy actually played his best junior footy as an inside mid and was recruited as such. ANB in a similar boat, I dare say. With our glut of inside mids, both have had to change the way they play, to varying degrees of success.

Comes back to the clubโ€™s laser-like focus over recent years on building the list from the โ€˜inside-outโ€™.ย With the KK addition and current interest in Tomlinson and Langdon, itย seems we have belatedlyย reached theย โ€˜outโ€™ phase of thisย list management strategy.

The biggest surprise in this story is that AFL Trade radio is apprently up and running already.ย

Must be organised by the same people who bring you hot cross buns in January.

Bunnings already has Christmas decorations in stock... have for a couple of weeks.

I bought a ton already :)

He had a position on the wing thereย for the taking, but wasnโ€™tย quite up to it unfortunately.ย Going north would be a good move for him and Iย genuinely hope he does well.

Maybe we could get Lynch, Prestia or Ablett as a Trade

If I recall correctly, Clarry credits his work ethic at Melbourne to Billy Stretch and how hard he trains. I think other players have made similar observations. Obviously you've got to bring more to the team than being a good trainer but if keeping Stretch on the list means pushing Clarry an extra 10% and getting the best out of some of your youngsters then he's not the worst player to keep on the list.

Given he plays the position we need most, I'd keep him on the list unless we're confident we can pick up a bargain late in the draft (and that's all we'd get if the Suns traded for him)

If Stretch trains well. .maybe a positionย  as a ...ย  ย trainer.

As a footballer...hes a magoo

Nothing wrong with that. ..just dont clog the list.

Billy has all the traits of a perfect clubman but sadly none of the traits that are going to make him a great footballer.

Perfectly describes Tomlinson and weโ€™re apparently offering him 4 years at 1.6 to 2 million.ย

Yet Tomlinson has managed to play 24 games this season (and counting) for GWS. Stretch would beย lucky to get a game for them.ย

Edited by Ethan Tremblay

Tomlinson is clearly two Gradesย better than Stretch, however, I want to state that I donโ€™t rate Tomlinson, who in my opinion is one Gradeย below Pederson.

4 years at $2 million for Tomlinson is a terrible list management decision. But, it is the Demons after all.ย

Yes Stretch isn'tย  too flash

Truth be told ,AT isn'tย  really that much better.ย

Surely better prospectives.

The sad thing is I donโ€™t think there is, and if there is, they donโ€™t want to come to us. Canโ€™t you blame them?ย

We donโ€™t want to keep Stretch which is fair enough, but Josh Wagner and Neal Bullen get 2 more years?! Jesus.ย

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Letโ€™s be honest, last weekโ€™s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper โ€” second versus seventeenth โ€” football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrowโ€™s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the teamโ€™s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Fullarton managed a couple of games in the first half of the season but soon found himself back in the VFL. There, he found a niche at centre half back but it was not enough to retain a place on the list at seasonโ€™s end.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Entering 2025, it looked as if Petty would be secured in a defensive position, but plans shifted and he spent more time forward, averaging just over a goal per game throughout the season. It remains uncertain which area of the ground he will be expected to cover under the new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The dynamic small forward, possessing an innate ability to generate excitement with his explosive play around the goals, successfully transitioned into a role that afforded him more time in the midfield. The club also negotiated a long-term deal with Pickett, thereby eliminating any prospect of a move west by their star young player.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #37 Kade Chandler

For a few years now, he has been a reliable, hard working pressure forward, but in 2025, Chandler elevated his performance, becoming an integral component of the team with enough versatility to play effectively on a wing from time to time.
