Uncontracted for next year and has a lot of things we could do with. Obviously has good speed and can kick goals, but he's also won a flag and was in the Lions leadership group this year. Would turn 29 during next season.

“Personally I have a bit of contract stuff to work out. I love the group but I will wait and see,” Christensen said.

Maybe. Ideally we should have pushed harder for him when he was set to leave the Cats. I feel like he peaked early and was at his best in his late seasons at Geelong, early seasons at Brisbane. Could maybe play a role for us up forward and can still be dangerous though. But I doubt he'd entertain coming back to Vic.

The bloke had some serious personal issues (I won't put them in here as it might not be appropriate) and he needed to get out of the state.  We were no chance of landing him when he decided that he needed a fresh start.

Had a lot of 'other' issues, which is why he needed to leave Geelong and Victoria, so not sure he'd be keen on coming back to any of the Vic clubs. A lot were very surprised he actually continued with footy when he left the Cats.

He has been very open about his personal issues:  allen-christensen-reveals-gambling-problem-at-geelong

Credits Neil Balme for a heart to heart and turning him around:  “Balme said, we obviously need to help you...I’m forever grateful for that because that was a light bulb moment for me.”

According to the article (March 2019) he hadn't placed a bet since 2014.  So seems low risk.  But played only 13 games for the Lions this year so not a regular 22.

imv he is a poor man's Jamie Elliot.  Prefer the latter.

As an aside, Lions are getting Ah Chee from the Suns so it forces Christensen out. lions-offer-longterm-deal-to-wantaway-suns-highflyer    Ah Chee is just 21 and has "...officially requested a move up the highway last week to fulfill Chris Fagan's plan to add more pace at the Gabba next season".

With Ah Chee, Brisbane are adding the finishing touches to an already very, very good list.  They will have a harder draw next year but don't see them going too far backwards.

Yes he certainly did, I doubt he would ever consider coming back to Victoria.

More than the Lions who had him in their leadership group this year?

Evidently.

I wouldn’t welcome into our club anyone with a severe gambling addiction, or a habitual womaniser, let alone a 2-for-1 deal.

Christensen can’t handle being in Victoria.

So you would want Goodwin sacked then yeah?

Not at all. You can’t see the difference?

Not entirely surprised though.

The difference between someone with a severe gambling addiction and someone with a severe gambling addiction? You're right, I don't see the difference there.

Right. Forgot to add that he is an ordinary player.

has pace

If he was white I'm not sure anyone would mention him as having speed or pace. Falling for the stereotype on that one.

A crafty footballer at his best who was a sharp mover but never anything special in a straight line. Now he doesn't really have the size, speed, strength or fitness to be damaging at half forward and can't draw free kicks as he used to.

I can't see us being interested.

This isn't a serious statement surely? I simply said he "has good speed", and you're trying to infer that he's in fact slow and I've racially stereotyped him, rather than actually seen him play. What an utterly ridiculous and offensive comment. You're more than welcome to email BOTH the clubs he played for and accuse them of racism if you wish too (see below).

"Allen Christensen is a fleet-footed midfielder with the ability to push forward and hit the scoreboard."

Source

"Another of the Cats’ band of fleet-footed midfielders"

Source

"His speed and skill will only add sizzle to Brisbane’s midfield."

Source

"Allen Christensen and Steven Motlop have injected speed and skill"

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
