Farewell Sam Frost

No wonder Goody is going all in on Bennell and Murray.

We have negligently overlooked speed and outside run for years; and the penny finally dropped for the so-called brains trust.

Now the over-reach and massive gambling.

Trademark logic error from you Rono. Your point all along is that we traded Frost because we don't rate speed and yet here we are looking at other players in the same off season with speed.  Maybe Frost was traded for other reasons?

...but we're not looking at Bennell for speed, it's his absolute class with and around the ball that we're looking at.

Neither Frost nor Murray have that class nor will they ever have it.

...and I don't know that we're even looking at Murray anyway.

The only story on that seems to be a thread on this site.

I always had a soft spot for Frosty, yeah he could make some frustrating turnovers but he always had a red hot go. I wouldn’t be surprised if another club gave him one last go, if not 185 games is a solid career.

Harsh on Frosty. Had a great year last year

Might get a gig somewhere

Spoke to a Hawks supporter about a year ago and he said Sam is a respected person .He won their community award - like a Jim Stynes award.

Well played Frosty.

Frostball circa 2018-19 was a fun time.

I think he'll find plenty of suitors if he wants to play on for a fourth club.

I've a bad heart. Not sure i could survive a Frosty return to our backline

Umm, he isn't Betts or Ablett jnr. Surely we're not replacing an old and problematic All Australian defender with an old and problematic NON-All Australian defender. Frosty probably gave it his all - the supporters of two clubs should feel grateful tonight.

BTW is Sam Frost the most photogenic player ever? 😂😂😂

My favourite Frosty memory was in a game v Carlton (maybe 2017 I think) with the game on the line when a galloping gazelle streamed across half back and ran forward dodging opponents and saving the game. A wonderful sight.

Had he been able to replicate this regularly and predictably he would have been a keeper.

Thanks Frosty - always a favourite even in the poo and wee colours.

My favourite Frost memory was his run-down tackle that slung West Coast's Petruccelle

He'd probably get suspended for that these days.

Does he get a podcast invite? He's certainly had an interesting career and might have plenty to reflect on.

I still remember him and May nearly having punch on on the field half way through the game.

then doing a shoddy kick, the highs and low of frostball

Coincidentally both of these respected players have had younger players supersede them and have just been delisted.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

  • VOTES: Richmond

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
