Just heard Gaz Lyon on SEN saying there might be another assistant leaving the Hawthorn nest,  he was waiting for confirmation before going with it, but 100% he was talking about Yze... i suspect this is very much in play and hopefully happens sooner rather than late.

This is the Transcript (about an 1hr 16 into the Podcast of the daily show 2/9):

Garry: I'm also hearing there may be another Hawthorn Assistant on the move from Alistair Clarkson's group right now.

Tim: Which one?

Garry: Can't say at the moment because I'm waiting for some confirmation.

Tim: Right

Garry: I wouldn't be surprised if they may lose another one.

Tim: A well known one?

Garry: Clarko's aware of it. He knows that clubs are doing it and they've had great success of it.

Tim: Did this assistant play?

Garry: Been there for awhile.

Tim: Is Adem Yze still there?

Garry: Adem Yze's still there yeah.

Tim: Is it Adem Yze?

Garry: I just said to you did I not?

Tim: What did you say?

Garry: I've got to do a bit more work on it?

Tim: Yeah but then if you say stuff like that then people want to know who it is? And I'm just doing my job for the fans to draw it out of you.

I'd love to see Yze AND Brad Green considered by the club.

If it happens cue DLs version of The Life Of Brian's what did the Romans ever do for us sketch:

'Ok, apart from getting Alan Richardson, Burgess and Yze what did Mahoney ever do for us???'

On Mahoney getting Richardson, i chuckle at the thought of the correlation between the posters bemoaning his appointment on the grounds he was sacked and has an average win loss ratio as senior coach and those who think the Hawks are the gold standard in everything football. You know, the club that just appointed as their Coaching director a sacked senior coach with one of the worst win loss ration in the history of football.

Bingo.

Hope I'm not the only one who would like us to get Ooze more for his ability and experience at Hawthorn under Clarko more than the fact he played for us. If it helps us get him over the line,  great, but IMO once here it would be irrelevant.

You're absolutely right, but it also pained me to know that Hawthorn had Neitz and Yze there at one point when we were battling. It just seemed wrong that after their success they were picking the eyes out of our one-club champions to boost their own chances. Even the angry little man played a couple of years for us.

I don't care where he's from, so long as he can coach.

I haven't noticed a lot of Hawthorn people in their FD and it hasn't hurt them.

The idea of needing a Melbourne person is a croc...

Don't worry 'Moon', you're not on your own.

A lot have expressed the same and I'm sure it would be of little consideration for the club...

This is the strangest whisper because everyone has heard it but no one seems to be able to confirm it.

For what it's worth i hope it's true. a bit of red and blue is a good thing, he's a super smart guy and a few years of Hawks knowledge to pass on won't hurt either.

How terribly un-Melbournian, not snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, AND finding targets in a crunch time defending a lead.

Maybe should have shown it to our current mob before the final match of this very forgettable season.

I think everyone would be hoping we’re only appointing quality staff. But c’mon, it doesn’t hurt to have a little romance in the game!

The only romance (football wise) I'm interested in is us winning a flag 'Mel'...the rest holds little interest.

After 45 years of being a Demons supporter, I’ve found it pretty crucial to find other areas of interest besides winning flags.

Same for me (though closer to 65 years). And before someone blames my complacency as a supporter for our lack of flags since '64, I might point out that in all those years I have neither played, coached or administered the club.  And I have no expertise to affect any of that.   What I do or feel has no effect, and nor do I expect it to.

Despite your protestations of innocence Sue, I’ve decided the blame for the Melbourne Demons’ sixty-three-year-long dearth of premiership flags lies squarely on your shoulders.

Fair cop. By way of mitigation, I couldn't microwave my membership card in '65 since they didn't exist then.

Thank goodness. I have been blaming my inconsistent attendance. Although in truth my presence was rarely acknowledged with wins.

So any news in regards to Use? Or is it a pipe dream all this time..

He’ll definitely be leaving the Hawks this year is what I’ve heard. My Freo contact reckons they’re into him.

If he decides to come to Melbourne, I question his mental state.

Hopefully he'll be thinking with his heart, not his head.

As an aside, is your Freo contact saying that Yze's leaving the Hawks and that Freo are into him, or confirming that we are into him?

My mate told me that Freo are into Yze as he’s leaving the Hawks. I have no if we’re into him but if he is leaving Hawthorn surely we’d at least inquire.

Look who liked the Goodwin Interview on the Dees Instagram.

Now it's not unusual for people associated with other teams to like something from an opposition club on social media and he has a history with the club.

I can't recall seeing him liking anything from the club but having said that I was never looking.

I'll be positive for once in my Demons supporting career and I'm going to take this as a sign.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.

  • GAMEDAY: Sydney

It’s Game Day, and the Demons have a golden opportunity to build on last week’s stirring win by toppling Sydney at the MCG. A victory today would keep them firmly in the hunt for a finals spot and help them stay in touch with the pack chasing a place in the Top 8. Can the Dees make it two in a row and bring down the Swans?
