October 4, 20195 yr I would’ve thought the best and fairest would be the perfect forum for Collingwood to announce Elliott’s re-signing. Would have had the crowd in raptures and the supporters on a high into the off season. We’re still a chance but deep down as a Melbourne supporter you know how it’s going to end.

Relax, we've got this.
October 4, 20195 yr He couldn't get in the top 10 at the B&F that works well for us are the Pies going to pay a fortune for a player that didn't finish in their top 10?

COPELAND TROPHY VOTING SYSTEM Senior coach Nathan Buckley, assistant coaches Brenton Sanderson, Robert Harvey and Garry Hocking award the votes each match. Each coach is able to award up to 22 votes for each match (no minimum). In the event that two or more players finish on the same number of votes, the player who has the least number of matches claims the higher position. If these players have played the same number of matches, the player who has polled the greater number of ‘high value’ votes claims the higher position. n 2018, Brodie Grundy and Steele Sidebottom were unable to be separated on 203 votes. Their shared victory was the first tied result since 1994.

He again met with his management and the Collingwood list manager today according to Mark Stevens on Twitter and that Pie insiders were confident. Well tomorrow is Saturday and no announcement has been made. If he wins an award tonight I'd expect to hear him commit on stage. Collingwood like a showcase. Mark Stevens saw that as good sign he's staying. On the other hand he may have been telling Collingwood that he's leaving and waiting for his manager to announce it after he's left on holiday. Don't get me wrong Eliott COULD be a massive asset to us if he plays every game and can maintain the 30 plus goal a year but he has never played a full season in his career and has missed 2 WHOLE years through injuries. We already have a cavalcade of perennially injured players. No need to pay overs for another. Yeah agree with this, also I’m a bit sceptical of players who manage to find their best form just before contract negoation. I won’t be dissappointed either way.

In saying that i am not suprised that he has said that.. same person that legit wanted us to recruit Jack Watts back to the club this year after years of raving on here what a superstar he was...

Anyone on here who thinks Elliott is an ordinary player should go back and look at that game.

As we all know it’s the injuries holding him back.
October 5, 20195 yr Hope we hear either way today, but might have to wait till Monday https://m.collingwoodfc.com.au/video/2019-08-19/player-of-the-week-jamie-elliott

Number 2 is he is not a traditional small forward, he plays more like a key forward in a small forwards body ie lead up and mark. We need a legit crumber which I'm not sure Elliott is although he is good at applying pressure and retaining the ball inside 50. Of course I still want him if he is gettable as he is a very good player. But he may not solve our small forward needs.
October 5, 20195 yr No announcement at the Collingwood BnF probably rules out the Pies. Given no Dees announcement yet you’d think he’s now entertaining the offer from the lions. Doesn’t rule us out yet but joining a young exciting lions outfit would definitely be something to consider.

The Lions being keen on him is interesting. They are a much more enticing proposition for players now, but for someone like Elliott, would he want to move out of Victoria? For a bloke who loves playing at Collingwood and is a Victorian boy, the Lions might make him turn his head but ultimately might not be able to convince him to move. That's the hope anyway.

October 5, 20195 yr 20 minutes ago, Wiseblood said: Well there you go. That would certainly change the outlook a little. Someone posted yesterday that he was born in WA then moved to Queensland and after his father passed away when Elliott was a teenager the family moved to Eurora in Victoria. There is a Queensland connection and if his brother lives there then that makes a strong connection. The fact that the Lions are coming off a strong season with a lot of hope for the future certainly trumps our dismal season. Sure the Lions could fall from grace like we did and we could climb up the ladder given a decent run at preseason and in-season injuries but the Lions outlook appears brighter. We have the advantage in that he wouldn't have to upend his life but a Brisbane offer similar or better than ours would definitely turn his head. That is all predicated on him not wanting to stay at the Pies even with a less than optimal deal.
