Cornes is right about Neal Bullen. Melksham was in no way a good of a position to call for the ball. Like Oliver last week, sookisookingwhinging because more worried about getting a touch or a goal himself.

Seriously, how often do we gotta hear the same sheet.

Could have been copy/paste from one hundred other disappointments.

Better to say nothing that repeat this rubbish

100% ANB did the right thing there, finally someone backed themselves and it was unfortunate it didn’t work out. Melksham should have been pointing to the goals not asking for it in the pocket. Mind you,  just about the best bit of roving I’ve seen this year from a forward by ANB.

I’ve watched the clip a few times to try and work out the kick by Jones. He looks in the direction to which the ball ended up which makes me think that’s where he was aiming, but at the same time I’m thinking he was going down the line and it looks like he shanked it off the instep. Skill errors and bad decision making have hurt all year, either way they cost you games.

The main take from the clip, is ‘selfish’ one of the reasons for this disaster of a season?

Jones is a club stalwart but also a perennial loser. Like Viney, they speak in corporate jingo and PR speak, and in cliches. It's exhausting.

"We take full responsibility."

Obviously you do? Who else takes responsibility if you don't? The supprters? lol so condescending.

If 2019 told us anything it's that our leadership is weak.

I'd like to know exactly what they take full responsibility for.
Is it bludging through the pre-season , the season, not evolving the game plan, not trying to improve their skills, getting ahead of themselves ...... What?
Such a hollow statement continually trotted out from the "leader".
I'm sure we'll soon be told the players will work to redeem themselves next year.
Again.
We've already been told it will burn in their guts.
What a joke.

Good riddance miserable 2019.

Whilst difficult to put aside the pessimism, perhaps there are a few reasons to be hopeful for next year?

  1. Fritsch's late season form up forward suggests we can get back to a formidable forward half mix next year
  2. If the rumours are true, Ed Langdon will definitely add some class and dash
  3. Pick 2 should find us an A grade talent, one that can make an impact quickly
  4. It's unlikely we could be cruelled by injury in the same fashion, already in a better place compared to last year with few pre season surgeries required
  5. On paper, the backline looks strong (Hibberd, Jetta, May, Frost, Hore, Lever), albeit with little pace and a question mark on depth
  6. Tom McDonald will be better (PLEASE!) as will Sam Weideman
  7. Several small forwards seem gettable in the post season, perhaps none are perfect but we should land someone that can fill a need somewhat adequately

Agree with all of this but big issue also is that FD/goodwin improve 200% on game plan and match day coaching. Players step up tp be peak fitmess and top class disposal.

Alas I'm not optimistic on these 2 issues.

A deplorable season from a habitually soft sporting club. Players and FD should be embarrassed about their inability to compete at a macro and a micro level.

Have put to bed any hope of enticing competitive people from other clubs to join the club to drive us forward. Back to the days of 5 years ago where players refuse to be involved in trades where they end up at MFC.

The first ones in line to be moved on should be easy to identify. Those who've delivered f*#k all while expressing their concerns over where the club is heading. They aren't going to help us when the going gets really tough. Move them on.

Have managed to put MFCs season into context for my wife (not a footy follower); “even more disappointing than House Of Cards season 8”.

We have poor culture & leadership issues!

With a minute to go our leader goes to a dangerous area!

Were are the other leaders to move the players across??

Were are the leaders to ensure Higgins is manned up??

Were have our leaders been to catch on any attitudes coming into the preseason??

What is our culture??

Dogs & Hawks a fine example of executing what they needed to do in the last round to play finals, hawks will not but they beat the eagles away!

Questions  would love to ask Goodwin!

There's been a few rumored in various threads over the last few weeks/months.

All I know is that history says we don't get much out of the guys who prefer to blame the club for their average output rather than looking inwards. We've had plenty over the years (Frawley, Sylvia, Moloney are a few that chucked it in while playing for us).

I just posted on another thread about Melsham . It was the second selfish thing in about 1 minute by him at both ends of the ground. He should have let frost ( who rarely gets outmarked) compete and cover the ground ball (if it came) but he went to sleep after trying a spekky.

How can the lions attract this caliber of player & comes into a club & continues to dominate!

We get an ex captain in May coming to a club thats played in a prelim & presents himself underdone!

I just really question our culture & the character of players we attract!

What stage do u think
a club gets a strong culture? What's the defining factor? Tigers as an example who were all over the shop for decades what changed?

I recall back In round one 1 when Jones said “[censored] happens” I was with him. We were gonna start a bit slow But  we are a good enough side to wear a few losses at the start of the season and be on fire at the end.  Instead, “[censored] happens” became this seasons mantra.

Where to start? I can’t remember a pre season and season mismanaged so poorly. The surgeries, the haphazard appointment of Pert, Steven May, the lack of game plan, the lazy drafting,  continuing to rush players in an under done, horrible list management. It was like the club on every level just thought it was going to happen.

The most disappointing part of all is once the nail was finally in the coffin and we were no longer mathematically a chance for finals, the way this group of players gave up showed a complete lack of respect for themselves, the jumper and supporters. There’s no way this group will win a flag, that’s for sure.

Even our wins sucked. Beating Gold Coast by a rushed behind with 3 seconds left? That’s were we are at. I feel sorry for Gawn. That’s all. Thanks for nothing Dee’s.

When the team backs up great performances with great performances.

The MFC plays a fantastic game sporadically and then falls apart for whatever reason.

Has to be leadership standards right throughout the Club

Yep, we are bereft of true leadership on and off the field.

Pretty spiritless mob. Compare to Hawthorns last game.

Personally I am glad that the club decided to reset after the bye.

It was great getting those two wins agains Freo and Carlton. Made the year really worthwhile and we have set ourselves up for a blinder in 2020.

Lets hope we have no more of these "line in the sand" games and "the players take full responsibility" for a complete c*ckup of a season.

Don’t know enough about him, but will Richardson help Badloss on game day tactics?  He certainly knows how to beat us up.

unfortunately we were the only team he knew how to beat up and that was no secret.

Yep leadership was on display in the way we lost the lead... that kick to the centre of the ground sums us up.. wouldn’t happen in a top club!

Umpire Joel Wilson should never attempt to step inside Australia again.

Ben Stokes has rewritten how to play an innings of Test Cricket ? . Not often i am in awe of the English in sport.

But Joel Wilson can just F off

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
