Frosty kept that clown from winning the Coleman medal. Sweet justice, flops around too much.

I’d like to know how many goals he kicked this year as a result of free kicks, from what I’ve seen, he appears to kick quite a few from frees.

On another note, we play like a bunch of under 9’s, every player just runs for the ball or for the opposition player who has the ball.

That's Goodwins coaching.
Numbers at the contest is the mantra.

I hope Jones accepts the offer of 1 year, surrenders the captaincy and is prepared to play at Casey and develop the next gen because sadly he will not be in the next team to play in a GF

I hope he goes to Gold Coast.
He's done.

On this note the recent discussion about the culture at hawthorn says a lot. Should Roughead get a farewell game? Well he did but the Hawks mantra is that you never get gifted a game. It goes back to the days of Dermie when interviewed about Roughy also said when you look back at your Hawthorn career you know you earned every game. No freebies, no sentiment and that is why Hodge retired, Lewis and Mitchell were moved on and Roughy has spent most of the season in the 2's

I hope Jones accepts the offer of 1 year, surrenders the captaincy and is prepared to play at Casey and develop the next gen because sadly he will not be in the next team to play in a GF

Culture at hawks continues & go over to the west & beat WC by 5 goals with a chance to play finals. They will get a Patton & or Conniglio & end up winning a flag whilst we ponder & recruit players who end up injured or lose form, overweight etc etc.

pessimism yes .. the mfc way

Where you driving, Bro? I appreciate your comments because they are basically positive. I get so sick and tired of the negativity on this site. They are mainly 'experts' who probably have never played the game.

Hi Dieter, been cruising around Jurien Bay, Geraldton area looking at the wild flowers for a few days then headed south today to Perth to watch the Weagles vs Hawks game. My wife is a mad Hawks fan and yes yet again the Hawks win. Everytime I go to these interstate Hawks matches, they win, I think that is 4 in a row. Everytime I drag her to an interstate Dees game we lose!

I was at the ground today.

There was something fundamentaly wrong with Nathan Jones. His body language reeked. He offered no leadership and no one looked to him for it.

My mother watches about 1/2 a game every three weeks and it was her second live AFL game ever. She said it was either 1) his last game for the club or 2) he had just been told that he would not be captain effective immediately.

The last time (and first ever) she came to a game she said Jack Watts was playing with no confidence and would be traded at year's end. He was.

Postive from today.... almost 3 quarters of better ball movement/accuracy from more players....in the game.

Until the last where our energy /tank ran out? Skills dropped off a cliff and we reverted back to chaos crash bash style ...and lost.

Once your confidence is shot, you will find a way to lose - 1.7!

It aint Jones, he’s been a stalwart of our club for 14 years, it’s numbnuts like ANB, Wagner, JKH, Spargo who are not good enough to be on AFL lists

Jones has given great loyalty and service to the club, so we should acknowledge both of those! The last two years, he hasn’t run or tackled and disposal has been ordinary at best. He can play one more season as a role player, but he needs to lift!!

I too am #$@!# off with a game we could have won, but I seem to recall everyone here predicting a huge loss with Brown kicking a bag.  I don't suppose I can expect to see any posts saying what we did right to avoid that.

Agree, was expecting a 10 goal disaster!

However, kicking 1.7 in the last and throwing away a win still hurts!

I decided not to watch I say, for the first time in my life, and only just watched the last quarter. Jones’ centering kick out of the back half was fundamentally horrendous and he should have strips torn off him by the coach. He initially signalled that he was heading to the boundary side and all our players moved that way, and then he pulls the kick back to the middle. He has done that sort of stuff for too long. It’s criminal. All we needed was to force a boundary throw in. He has been offered 3 years at the GC and wouldn’t be surprised if he walks. Apparently is disgruntled at the Dees. If he leaves, that’s a sad way to finish up

He should take 3 years at GC from a financial perspective.

Dees could only give him one more year!

Hire a shrink, in the last five games we've led at three quarter time we've then kicked 5.23 in the last quarter and lost four times.

Including the 1.7 this round.

Was also in Jurien for a few days this week to see the wildflowers. Perhaps a week or two early to see them at their best. Managed to get a tick though when hiking through the bush. Glad to see the eagles lose. I got taunted mercilessly by the in-laws after the prelim.

You mean in the 5 games this season where we were leading at 3/4 time?

Anyway there is 5 games lost through poor goal kicking and there were a few others where we kicked horribly in the first half and lost so even though we haven’t played well at all this season some accuraacy in front of goal might have seen us on 10 or 11 wins for the season and maybe more as winning builds confidence and form.

WOW that is quite bizarre, kick 14.14 and we win a couple more games, no wonder we are plumbing the depth's.

Do you object to supporter comments at the game too?

No.   I get as frustrated as anyone, can't even bear to watch it but I don't spend the week writing posts critical of the players, the coaches, the medical and fitness team, the administration and all the other blameworthy members of the organization called The Melbourne Football Club.

Surely you're kidding.
After finally playing finals and getting to a prelim last year you think 17th this year is a satisfactory outcome?

No. But what can you do? I can try to understand it but writing a catalogue of people to blame doesn't solve anything.

THat's the life of a Demon supporter. I recall my nine year old daughter in 2007 saying, Why do you barrack for a team of losers, dad?

Looking at the Higgins goal that won them the game.

Dumont managed to push Harmes aside, find a ground ball get while Spargo falls over, gets tackled by Salem who pins his free arm. Meanwhile 4 of our players immediately surround Dumont leaving space outside for Wood and then Higgins to receive the handball over the top after Dumont somehow frees his arm. Higgins evades Jones and Hibberd while Frosty is haunched over presumably with cramp and snaps on his left.

So frustrating we didn't kill that ball and then got sucked into the contest yet again.

I could review individual contests as much as I'd like and it's probably not a good idea to focus on small moments like that, but gee it's indicative of how we play without footy brains and make the little mistakes that cost big

It's also how teams play when their confidence has been demolished by that thing called The Losing Streak.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
