Never. Going. To. Happen.

Were on a "journey" and are building a "brand" remember?

Goodwin is safe for 2020  (cause we cannot pay him out and just has enough credits in bank for 2020 but will be under enormous pressure next year.

Fun fact: Every team that has sacked their coach is above us on the ladder.

*Potentially can included Adelaide in that if you believe the rumours.

He won't though. He'll talk about all the progress we're making, then be really vague about the changes he, as coach, made during the game.

Thought we'd get up for this one :(

Boy, some work to do.

Also, no Bruce and Carlisle and saints lose that game.

They scored 82 points from turnovers.

How do you win games of footy giving them 14 goals?

Even the turd polishers have now gone missing.

Shell of a team. Hard to know what to say.

The forward line we had out there today didn't have a single established forward, yet alone a key forward. Throw into that players like Baker, the Wagners and an underdone backline and that's about what you get. Lever's 3 clear kicks out from the back line that ended up with the opposition about summed up where we are.

Their 13.6 from our turnovers says it all.

Hard to see too many positives. Oliver, to his credit, worked his way back into it. Petracca and Fritsch were very good for a half, Harmes did OK when moved forward, Max was Max ... apart from that, struggling.

Imagine this, if Dew got sacked, the Suns would probably win a few games and you know where that leaves us!

Reading the game day thread it sounds like O Mac was the reason for the loss. Then I remember I watched the game and we were shithouse Bar a few.

After the first 5 minutes the saints dominated all aspects of the game. They should have won by 30. And they have 8 of their best 22 out injured.

Go [censored] yourselves demons. I’m sick of this [censored]!!

The worst loss of the year. On the back of last weeks talk and the quality of opposition (or lack thereof) it was a pathetic effort. The lack of care in disposal, decision making and accountability were just horrible. Half these blokes would struggle at A grade ammo's let alone AFL with the pathetic skill levels. Just embarrassing really.

After all these years, its hard not to care, but I'd like to be able to forget they exist and the  AFL for that matter. That was another dog awful standard! The audacity to ask for upgrade's for seats and memberships for the next 3 games when they serve up that [censored] week on week  this season, they can go EAD.

Is it really going to matter. We have destroyed that many 1st round picks that it will just be part of the norm at MFC.

OSCAR McDonald, Wagner's, ANB get the [censored] out of this football club you spuds!

I have been a Goodwin but not anymore! I am done!

Nothing positive to come put of this dreadful performance.

I reckon they were the three I identified as well Dazzle. McDonald how no reason to be wearing a Melbourne jumper. The Wagners are pointless in terms of us going forward and ANB is seemingly in reverse.

may be a win against swans  but really doubt that we will win another game which is shattering..  what else is new

Omac is well qualified to wear a Melbourne  jumper.

No improvement tonight at all. Goody better not use the improvement line.

Won’t win another game this year.

We may get the number 2 pick. This is not going to solve the problem. It is much deeper than that

I love a scapegoat as much as the next bloke, but OMac was fine tonight.

Goody on the other hand.

Is Goodwin running drills of handballing blindly out of defence?

Also - We've had a season to sort some kind of system going inside, regardless of who's down there.

Must hunt someone who is capable at the wheel - NOW!

One player will not make that much difference  we need  at least 3 good new players

I think this is the worst I've felt since the Need days. Being there brought back all the damaging memories of those days.

I hope the leadership of the club knows the damage that's being done.

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
