He is literally the type of player we as supporters have been calling out for and now the pick we use is too high?

Build a bridge, and go support another team if everything is going to be negative.

Welcome Kozzie I dare say you will be a fan favourite very quickly and shut up some of these key board warriors pretty quickly.

Not sure he was the best talent available at pick 10, but he’s a demon now so he has my support.

Welcome to the club Kozzie and hope you tear it up in our forward line for years to come!

Welcome Kozzie. For whatever reason, I’ve got a good feeling about him.

Bit of humour from Kozzie too, running to get the handball from his teammate in that hit clip.

These young hopefuls get judged before they even play a game, what a thrill it must be for player and family. Welcome Pickett.

Picked far too early. Tonight should have been Green & Kemp. Ridiculous recruiting by this club once again

Yeah nah

Welcome Kozzie, would love to see you round one.

JT May of went against popular opinion(with players or how early to pick them)but at least he has the balls to back himself in.

Love it. Can't wait to watch him.

I genuinely miss the excitement that Wona, Davey, Jurrah, the Wiz, Pickett, Whelan, Garlett brought to our footy club with pace, hardness, skill and brilliant footwork. Looks like this kid has it in spades. The extra dimension we have missed after drafting so many of the same players for years. Now we (hopefully) have a quality one to make a difference.

loved the tears from his grandma and serious look of pride from Goody in the wash up.

we really wanted him and it means a huge amount to him and his family. can't love it enough. the follow up shepherd he laid in his highlights on tv was enough to say yep worth every cent

Agree Colm, JT picking these kids obviously for a reason (apart from pi$$ing off a number of Demonland keyboard warriors)

Like i previously said in another thread, it was indeed a great hit!

He'll miss the first 10 weeks with a carry over suspension from a head high bump in the juniors  Sorry guys!

Finally, someone front and centre at the drop...

Hmmm a team with an absolute abundance of inside midfielders and utilities should have selected another inside midfielder and a utility who is out for 12 months?

That makes perfect sense.

My MFCSS instinct told me they weren't happy tears, shes upset he'll be on other side of country and will be in his ears for 3 years to come home...  ?

Wrapt to have him though. Exactly what we need zipping around up forward, capitalising on all the entries we never seem to make the most of.

A nice injection of intensity into our team. Desperately needed too.

just like nev returned home and flash and wheels..... nah go home factor is generally bulltish. usually about opportunity rather than going 'home'

we have a great history with indigenous kids from the west. Whiz only really left after the core group around him from the early years had gone.

this kid looks like a young flash - the kid who changed forward pressure forever

i got the same feeling that she was not exactly pleased, Even Kysaiah's face wasn't exactly beaming when called.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
