Not Lockhart. He did a good tagging job on JJ today. Held him most of the game. Did well

There are only two winnable games remaining Swans and Saints. Assuming we wiin one of those we finish with six wins and second last. What a coaching feat by Goodwin.

- This is not so much a positive but i didnt mind Fritsch playing on around his body. Thinking he was just trying to get a quick goal so we could still have enough time. Btw he looked good up forward for once.. who would have thought?

Could not disagree more. I'd drop him for that decision alone.

I was livid at the ground when he chose to play on. I could not believe he chose to do so. The clock was only on 26.30 i think (or at latest 27.30). Massive amount of time left. He was on the 'right' side for a lefty and only 25 meters out on slight angle.

Simply had to go back and slot it. Time was not an issue, and he should have known that and even if it was worried about time he still should have gone back and just taken 15 seconds and slotted it. Huge error and one made i suspect because he missed an absolute soda ealrier in the game.

Mentally weak decision and unforgivable in the circumstances.

My eyesight is waning at times.

In the first quarter, I thought that I had seen OMac on the field and thought: 'Hell, Goodwin has made the same bad mistake again!'

Later, at a distance, that same player took a great mark and kicked truly in fairly difficult circumstances; I was truly amazed, it seem to me that OMac had marked the ball and kicked a decent goal, and was competing really well, up-close to opponents and running them down for a tackle. He was also getting the ball and creating breakaway distances before disposals.

About then, mouth agape, I saw the jumper number for the first time. It was Harry Petty.

Boy, did I feel a fool thinking OMac could do any of that onfield!

It was a shocking decision. Yet oh so predictable. Dare i say it was a distinctively Melbourne moment.

Gawn must be disgruntled with his performance in the ruck today. He gave away 2 free kicks for blocking his opponent or was he blocking the umpires view?    You blind MAGGOT!  NO. 7 Umpire I don't think he knew himself. One of your decisions cost us a goal.

Umpire  Dalgleish  from WA. We don't want you for next weeks game against the Weasels! You blind BAT!

Dub administration. Anyone who thinks this year is a blimp needs their head read.

Dud coach- the concept of coaching is not all about game plans it is improving players weaknesses both in the area of skill and mental approach.

Too many dud players.

People. Unfortunately there is not much in the two's and we will have to put up with this crap for rest of year , playing blokes that should be in a suburban comp let alone VFL. We are officially the 2nd worst team. ANB, Hannan and many others are just not good enough. That shot by Fritta just summed up our day and season. I've had enough of this and trying to find excuses. Not Umpires fult it was our own players with about 6-8 VFL players at best.

This. Drop old mate, sack this guy. Unfortunately with the large number of names on the injury list that does make it difficult.

Bring in the Wagner boys for who?

JKH? Maynard?

Lucky it wasn't a strait jacket. I think that's where I might end up watching these games.

One thing I hate is a forward giving high fives after a mark in the forward line. Trac did it in the last quarter then predictably misses the goal. High fives are after you kick the goal!!

The bigger question is do our young players get pulled up for that sort of behavior. You can just imagine what the opposition players  say when they are chatting and having a laugh after the game.

Soul destroying to be back in that position.

I thought Hibbo had one of his better games for the year. Looked like he regained some attack and dash back and although he didn’t have many disposals he did gain us some much needed territory at times.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
