6.  Clarry - the difference!

5.  T-Mac - Curse strikes....again!

4.  Tracc - Some great 2nd/3rd efforts plus strength around the stoppage becoming a factor.  Starting to impose himself at last.

3.  Jones - Poise & a cool head with some grunt when needed.  Played out of usual posi but came through yet again.

2.  Lewis - Too slow for the center bounces IMO but at the coal face his inside work at around the ground stoppages and clearances were mostly on bringing others into the game.

1.  Pruess - what a fabulous back up to Maxy.  Eight score involvements and 425 meters gained!  With nothing to lose for the remainder of the season and having impacted in all games played so far, it's time for Goody to swallow his pride & leave the big fella in as a foil for Maxy and a tall pain in the [censored] (for the opp) forward who our smaller forwards (at least those who are capable...Hannan/Lockhart/Dunkley/Hunt/Chunk?) can feed off.

I wasn't at the ground but listening on radio. I don't recall hearing Hannan's name being called at any stage during the game. Not much of Brayshaw, either.

Which broadcast?

I was listening to the 'commentators' on dribble M last week and rather than calling the game, they were just talking a truckload of [censored]

In my opinion, (most humble) these two created numbers at the contest and did a lot of bullocking work

Clarrie was a clear standout

If you thought I was criticising you I apologise. That was not my intention. I was listening to 774 and it's just that I didn't hear their names during the call much at all. As a side comment, it was an uninspiring call of what they kept describing as an uninspiring game (actually, they were much more harsh than that).

No, I didn't think that at all...all good

I agree, the calling is quite uninspiring, although I do enjoy the 3AW team, especially Tony Leonard

interesting to see a lot of folks not having Frost in their 6.  i have been a big critic of his over the years but he was easily in our best 6 imo. 10 marks, 4 contested marks, 18 disposals, 4 score involvements.  although there were 3 maybe 4 clangers I think the good outweighed the bad.  some of his brave marking at the back and intercepts were amazing

Agree Dub.  With Frosty it's always WYSIWYG, but yesterday the good was outstanding, I reckon.  I can mostly forgive his sometimes wonky disposal and brain fade when he bites off more than he can chew, but not so the occasional off the ball free like the one in the last quarter.

I didn’t have Frost in my six best however for me he was probably next in line. As you say the good outweighed the bad, and that’s getting better every week. Was it Goodwin or another of the coaches that said something along the lines of “we don’t always know what he’s going to do with the ball, but then again, neither does the opposition” ??.   Love his attack, love his run but hold my breath when he gets rid of it!

No room for Fritsch? Some had him B o G

Angus Brayshaw had an outstanding 2018 and his Brownlow result saw us having high expectations for 2019. I think he had a satisfactory year but not the equal of 2018.  Our rating shows him Top 5 so far but obviously it’s been a below par year all around.

Brayshaw is a big part of our future and I think he just needs to work on a quick 5 metre burst more. Nonetheless he will be a key midfielder for many more years.

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.
