Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Then why is Collingwood being beaten by inferior teams? Should their magical game plan not protect them from the impact of injuries?

Of course every club has an injury threshold, but what injuries last year prevented us from coming close to WCE, COLL or RICH at the top of their game? Lever?

The misery continues for the members & supporters! when will Bartlett & Pert come out along with all the coaches & apologise for the pathetic, deplorable season & another false dawn!

They already have. Bartlett came out shortly before the coaching changes to say he went down to the football department. what do you want them to do?

At a bar the other night and they played Tom Petty’s Freefallin’, Very apt for the year we’ve had. Maybe could play that song as Melbourne run onto the ground.

Was a good club, back in the heyday

Loved winning, and the cups with it too

Then Barassi, took off to the Bluebags

A curse set in, and then we were screwed

And it’s a long day, sittin at the footy

There’s a freeway, runnin’ through the backs

And I’m a sad boy, for ever believin’

Those bad boys, keep breakin’ our hearts

And we’re free, free fallin’

Yeah we’re free, free fallin’

Sure, why not lever. Potential AA player recruited to help us win a flag. We also didn't have Hogan for the last third of the season. In terms of importance not a million mikes away from say tigers losing rance and reiwoldt (not saying either are as good)..

We did make the prelim.

This pathetic season is on the coaches IMO. The players for the most part have won the clearances and territory battle to win inside 50s, but are losing games. They’re doing what the coaches ask them to, but what they’re being asked to do is play a losing game.

I wouldn’t be against a big coaching clear out come end of season.

Listening to a bit of SEN Crunch Time yesterday, Danny Frawley mentioned Melbourne and why nobody was talking about them. Derm made some comment about nobody cares and Huddo quickly said we will get back to them later, I didn’t here the rest so not sure if they did, but wouldn’t surprise me if they didn’t. Because we are a small club and our coach has a long contract so there is is no blood about to be spilt.

So true. Clubs like us around because historically most have a two out of a three chance of beating us.

The game plan is much the same at VFL level. I can understand that they have to know the gameplan etc but it could be played every third game with equal affect and then the intervening games could be used for skill development and dare I say it testing alternative gameplans.

The goal sealer yesterday came from a scrubby kick by Munro from around the centre that just rolled through the goal (it almost stopped) because there were zero players forward of the defensive 70. Okay that's modern football but it isn't necessarily smart football.

We over rate last year. We had a lot easier draw last year and in early August had not beaten a team in the eight. We then had a purple patch of five weeks. This covered up a number of issues re our list. Add some injuries to better players this year and and game plan that does not work as well  under 666 and you have us third last. We are not a third last team but we are not a top eight either. We have a couple of  genuine stars but a lot of VFL talents. Still a lot of recruiting to go. With a little injury luck we could finish 7th or 8 th next year that IMO is our true level.

Gerard and Slobbo have promised to open up AFL 360 on Monday with a Melbourne lashing if we get done tomoz.

Make no mistake, this year has been an absolute disgrace. There has to be casualties at the end of the year. And our head coach must surely be put on severe notice if we win just 0-2 games for the rest of the year.

I keep defending our off season surgeries but apparently West Coast had 14 themselves and are now flying and probably flag favourites.

They also came back later than we did due to making the GF

I put it down to poor goal kicking and Tmac going from averaging 2.7 goals a game, to 0.8 a games and the sheadding of hogan, and milkshake hardly playing and having a poor preseason, just from those 3 players that's around 6 goals less a game, that's the difference to winning and losing. Tmac has had plenty of  supply in the 50s how many easy marks has Tom McDonald drop this year at least 2 per game in the forward 50.  how can any of the midfielders have any confidence that he's going to take a mark when he's just dropping everything.

Lever has talent and leadership but is massively over rated by our footy department on his performances over the journey. It was exasperated by that idiot captain of theirs going on like he was irreplaceable.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
