Darwin record irrelevant...such a winnable game tonight...

Thank you. I have said that for weeks. The guy is scared sh-tless. Play him and you deserve to lose every week.

He must have been involved in at least 10 negative incidents tonight, any one of which if he had tried, we would have won.

I feel sorry for Weid because he should never have been in that position. He was nearly crying.

Jeffy couldn't give a flying f-ck.

But still kicks 3 goals???? Yeah right!

We played some great footy tonight and should have banked a 6 or 7 goal win.

We are starting to look good again ...except no one is a reliable goal kicker . in fact everyone seems like they’re totally [censored] themselves pre kick. .How much do we miss the melk ?

Such a painful season... every week offers another way to add to it.

We are now forced to go to the draft as no one will want to come to us in Trade Period after our dismal year so far.

I am coming to terms with the fact we will never be any good, a flag is all but a dream and will never be realised!

I just want to know why.

goodwin to give players massive cuddles

Yes, give a man a ball... teach him to kick ...

We have a closing culture that can't be broken...I guess 55yrs its solidly ingrained!

Our leadership is a real concern & too many VFL std players.

Once again the script followed wonderfully of how to break the hearts of its members & supporters!

I miss the Milk too...

Hogan would have kicked one of those 3 chances and so would Watts.

Two of the last three game we squander a solid lead in the last quarter to lose. Other game we kick seven in the last  quarter when game is already lost. Absolutely faaarked in the head team.

Supporting this club is such hard work. Is there any other that comes close? Maybe Saints or Freo.

Every Melbourne supporter knew the crows would get back into the game. We've seen it dozens (more?) of times over the years. There was a sense of inevitability about it. How is it you change the players, coaches, gameplan, ground whatever - and the MFC still manages still throw games away in heartbreaking fashion.

My dad said he stopped watching at half time, couldn't enjoy the lead we had because he knew it would get eroded and too stressful to watch the 2nd half. My wife (Geelong supporter) said she can't watch Melbourne games anymore, she was getting more upset than I was.

Please, please, please...teach Melbourne footballers how to kick set shots at goal...FFS

Wasn't it nice to see the South Australian umpire have a cosy chat with Lynch about why he gave a free kick against him right before the siren of one of the quarters (can't remember which one, the whole game is a blur). So impartial! BLAH!!!

Low blow - you shouldn't go there...

Garlett dropped that mark in the pocket in the last quarter because he sensed that he might get contact he didn't & we missed an opportunity 2 get an easy goal. I am over him squibbing it. There was another time he didn't want 2 pick it up because he doesn't want contact.  I feel JKH is the same. Tim Smith missed his goal because of pressure. Weed because he got 2 close 2 the man on the mark.

Soft as ....

Salem had gastro .... seems to have spread to the whole team, NB Garlett who urgently needs a change of underwear.

LOL 2019 is the year that keeps on giving.

Glad there were much better signs, but we really cooked that last quarter! Tim Smith & Hunt missed the easiest of set shots.

Weid also but it shouldn't have got to that point.

Still pumped for next year. We will likely get a pick in the range of 4-7 which could net us another high end talent.

Go into next year with a full pre-season, softer draw, May & Lever back plus hopefully a few more high pressure forwards and we will rocket back into the top 4.

Yes. We have done so well with high draft picks over the years. Other than Oliver and Brayshaw do we have any stars from top end picks?

Jenkins is big unit but I am sure you would have brought him down. We lost it in front of our own goal.

Oscars bigger than you think

He wasnt very good tonite but I dont get all the ire given the other macs horrible game.

By far worse.

I’d love to ask Pert how much he predicts this season will cost us in membership and sponsorship revenue.

We will be held accountable, and it’s such a waste.

Salem would’ve been winning the bnf until injured

Are you serious? Have you ever played the bloody game? He is a squib of the highest order. His gutless play must drive his team mates mad. It certainly does to nearly every Dees fan I know.

So if a bloke gets 3 Joe the Gooses and pulls out of every contest, you think he has played well. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you Reckon Todd Viney will be helping with goal kicking at training this week???

I’m not rejoining until there is a kicking coach (one that has a positive effect anyway), some accountability

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
