Just looking at the beginning of the Sydney v Collingwood game.  These players seem to have terribly shiny upper arms.  Surely there's some sort of rule about not greasing up the players?  It looks like every one of them has been slathered in Vaseline.

It’s the  @Bitter but optimistic Round?

Commentators on radio just described the grass as slick, too. Maybe there's been a general vaseline spill att he SCG?

I think that players have been doing that as long as i can remember?

Probably, but it just struck me and I kind of look at it as in the same ballpark as the English Cricket Team and their special lozenges or Trav Cloke's sticky glove.  There may not be a specific rule against it, but it's certainly not 100% legitimate.

Never seen Buddy or Josh Gibson play?

Its baby oil/massage oil, used now on arms more as a lubricant to help avoid/slip tackles

Would not be surprised if it ends up all over the ball... maybe exacerbates the poor skills of some teams (like us)

Maggots having a huge influence on this game.

Not one 50/50 that I have seen against Pies.

That last deliberate would not have been paid against Pies.

It’s been one of the better umpired games this season.....Until the last quarter.

Simply hate watching footy televised from the SCG. So scrappy.

Blatant C throw out of centre ignored.

Yep, the umpire was side on as well, had the perfect view of it

Surely that wasn't Margetts making another mistake

Seriously how dumb is Rampe? Maine missed that goal and they would have had a chance to get it down the other end. Instead he blatantly runs over the mark. How is he captain? The past few weeks he has made some dumb decisions.

Loose cannon!  Got away with post gate.  Sealed the game with this 2nd brain fart.

I wonder what Longmire will say to him after the game?

But how good was it seeing Neale at 1/2 time talking about the big freeze #5? Gosh that man is remarkable.

Anyway tomorrows game interest me now. Nth and the dogs if the story is true it will be Brad's last game. You would hate to be the bulldogs because now you know the roos will come out firing.

Collingwood can't rely on winning this way every round... I have this strange strange feeling that in just a few weeks time they are going to be hit by a serious upset.

I’m pretty sure he’s on the spectrum.

We're all on the spectrum, Ethan.

Especially on Demonland...

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
