I understand the club is prioritising AFLX 3 and treating the home and away season as a form of experimentation - hence the 3-5 start to the season.

Well it's one way to get the attention of the Gen Z's/youth market :)

Why would clubs "bid" for a licence in a competition that they already own?

This isn't the IPL.

Somewhere in this comp there might be a game of sorts but the marketers are being let run wild

LOL.   The head honchos  AFL House always thinking with their wallet.

The game is going down the tubes.

I think there's a typo. Actually the clubs have to bid to NOT get an AFLX licence.

Not that I give a toss, but probably a good idea.

However ..... that will only give Shocking / Gillon an opportunity to dream up some other monstrosity.  I am sure they have it in them to make something far worse.

Oh no!

It feels just like when I lost that pair of socks with big holes in them.  WGAF

Didn't I just read that Shaun Smith has criticised the organisation of the 2019 EJ Whitten Game for converting it to AFL-X in format? I've always believed that there's a place for AFL-X, but this isn't it. I see it as a simplistic game played overseas as a way of accommodating amateur players, where there are smaller numbers playing (so it allows for reduced team sizes) playing on rectangular fields. But I wouldn't care if it died a nautural death, either.

Gee whiz, 3-5. Back when there was still a glimmer of hope.
