I have watched the last 2 mins over and over and over in the last hour. Jayden Hunt was a massive part of our get out of jail win first winning the ball and getting it out to the runner in Hore and then going full bore at a 50-50 contest to setup the Harmes possession. Hats off to you Jayden my good man!

This was definitely not a game the majority of AFL fans would enjoy so let’s just strip back some of the mayonnaise on that theory. It was a HARD watch for 90% of the game even as a neutral, I was a great finish though. The last 2 minutes more exciting than most of the game. In terms of a hard fought game with intensity it was great but that’s about it.

Clayton Oliver absolutely immense, you think he’s having a reasonable game and then in the second half he just goes into hyperdrive! Melksham in the middle! Makes a big difference having that kicking ability and some hard running, hopefully not too hurt. Salem’s name comes up each week and is turning into our best. T-Mac is taking steps in the right direction.

Plenty of under performers but most of them stood up when the game was there to be won.

I just want to give a shoutout to the crowd on Melb fans behind the goals when Tommy hit the post. Making the trip up there and being right up close to the winning play and going nuts when we scored, that was just amazing. You guys are the true heroes tonight!

Get in!

Tom McDonald being called the “star of the show” by Mooney is laughable.

He was deplorable along with just about everyone else.

What a horrible game of football.

Our coaches have done nothing to fix our fumble and ball on ground problems from last year.

The forward line is a mess, the structure is non-existent and we have no plan when then ball hits the ground.

So. Us the game in the end and you choose to bag him. Laughable.

Well your initial thoughts were right, no free kick would have been given had he not held him, he let him breeze past him with zero body contact and then turned to chase.

If we played man on man your assessment would be right, but watch the whole match and you’ll find very rarely the player will break neck run with the player after he is on the mark. Omac made mistakes, but this one was a bigger mistake by Oliver than the whipping boy

Oli could have bumped that player, but the point remains that OMc's player got away,  and created overlap,  and then ran on to goal...  OMc still trotting thru the middle.

Even IF Oli had of checked that player,  the ball was still past them,  and was on its way toward goal.

It was OMc that either should have been on his player,  shoulder to shoulder,  Or ahead of the play to defend.

So I disagree with you,  M_M...   I think what I posted was the correct thing to do.  & OMc stuffed up.

Ugly game of footy, but a win's a win.

Oliver = freak.

Marty Hore - take a bow son. What a find he's been for us given our depleted backline.

TMac finding some form, but F me, I wish he could hold a mark like he used to. Made a meal of it in the dying seconds but thankfully the footy gods were on our side for once.

My grumbles about today's game aside (most certainly exacerbated by having to put the family dog to sleep today - a loyal friend for over 15 years), it was a pretty crazy finish to the game. Doesn't matter who you're playing, it's nuts that we scored twice in 50 seconds, and I'm happy that this finally happened in our favour, rather than against. A pleasant change.

Sorry to hear that RBM.  Gut wrenching time ✌?

Also, check in Slo-Mo,  roll back and forth,  between 1:20_  thru to 1: 37 secs...

OMac allows his man to run thru to receive,  and OMc's standing still until his man has 10 Mtrs on him...  that is Holman,  who ends up kicking the goal, that puts THEM in front...  Omac asleep as usual.

IMO,  Omac should have left his man at that stage (prior to his man offering the offensive option),  and gone to the wing in front of stoppage, ahead of Jones, edge of the square.  Or switch with Jones on the mark, letting Jones be spare defender....

Instead OMac strolls thru the middle of the ground,  as his opponent streams forward with ball in hand...  and goals.   this would normally be end of game for us.

Ah Turbo Mc Treacle... Why would you doubt the everlasting consistency of his performance??

Harmes looking to be unselfish almost cost us as Tmac dropped the simple mark but thankfully got enough on it to get a score

I reckon it was a mis-kick. I've watched it a couple of times now. Nevertheless, error riddled moments with the kick and mark but we get the win. Go Dees!

Well, in the end, it was either a win or a draw... and TMc delivered.

The ugliest win I can remember. Brayshaw terrible, Trac continues to disappoint...our skills have vanished but we are alive and have another week to find our touch (although Lewis I fear has lost his for all time).

TMAC 3 goals and the winning point he is starting to show form.

Not with that dropped mark he's not, it was an absolute soda. Harmes put it right down his throat, no defender on him & Tommy dropped it like a hot spud. Lucky he got a boot to it.

When/if Tommy starts holding his grabs he will start to show some form.

I did a hammy and put my back out celebrating after TMac booted the point. Oliver was massive, I wonder if sometimes though if he’d be better off copping a tackle and creating a stoppage as opposed to handballing without looking. A few today went straight to Gold Coast players who got the ball out into space.

For decades, I've seen teams like Hawthorn and the Swans play like rubbish in games like this and then snatch a win, often from us. Now , we're doing it. Good.

Trouble is they were top line premiership/contender teams.

At the moment we're nowhere near that & we're not doing what they were.

We're scrapping out wins against other average/bottom rung teams.

...but it beats losing.

So which of you good things paid the umpire... Hunt was gone for all money for HTB, the GC  fan club (Bruce by himself) was outraged.

Our ugliest win in 2016 (against the Suns at the G) led to our best win for the year (Hawks) the week after.

Ugly wins can often lead to bigger and better things.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
