Hang on.  You said he'd beaten up the story.  You said he exaggerated.

What part was ''beaten up'' ?

And how do you know he wasn't respecting May's privacy or even knew about any relationship issues ?

Btw, there are 3 questions there.

Gee you are very defensive of poor Tom...is that you Tom?

Last night he said that May had been at the pub until 6.00pm and had "ample beers".

It is crap journalism....end of story.

It was several then ample. He’s clearly trying to beef up the story. End of story.

This is called deflecting.  It's common when people can't address the actual assertion.

It's weak, but all you've got I suppose.

I've also got a life outside of this thread which is more than I can say for you.

Keep yapping away little Jack Russell puppy.

BREAKING NEWS

Aussie bloke has a couple of beers over a few hours at the pub before leaving at 6pm; the perpetually offended are outraged (and offended).

In hindsight (now), it seems a disappointing public capture at best. However, I believe nothing is wrong with a few coldies whilst he is working away at core fitness and conditioning. Beer does refresh, rejuvenate and re-invigorate, no doubt about that.

It is a shame that this was a public capture that could have been avoided quite easily. What has May got against knocking off a few lids at home, in the garage, in the backyard, in a closet, for that matter - out of the sight of those who may otherwise interpret his preferences that depart from the Gatorade brigade?

Drinking on your own was seen as shameful once upon a time. Drinking with mates in a pub was seen as normal behaviour, as long as you didn’t overdo it...

Unaustralian, I know. Pretty sure I saw Tom Morris skulking around in the paddock near one of my thoroughbreds with a camera too. Roo’s will probably say my heart just isn’t it in on the next Episode of 360. Long week ahead for me.

Who's talking about drinking alone? It's always assumed that a mate will drop in to start the session.

I couldn't care less about Morris.

But I like people to be accountable for their comments.

Ethan has said he's gone from saying ''ample'' to ''plenty'' of beers.  How would Morris know how many he'd had.  And why did Morris change his language ?  You see Ethan gets it.  He can back up his assertion with facts, which is all I wanted.

Others just make ill-considered observations and when they're held to account that get all narky, they get personal, and they fail to back their original assertions.

Tip: don't make claims you can't back up.  It's not hard.

I only use the word 'Ample' when describing one thing (well two technically) and I would like it to stay that way

Don’t get me wrong, we’ve clashed plenty of times before - But I enjoy your commentary mostly. But saying people get narky and personal is a low bow for the king of inferring people are morons or words to that effect.

That’s sad to hear. But as Mahoney said alcohol shouldn’t be used as a fix.

Everybody's different Jaded.  In moderation it can be beneficial for some, others maybe not.

Respecting May’s privacy?? He certainly had no intention of doing that and no i don’t think he knew anything about any relationship.

Morris just saw pints ? of beer and a footballer. He had no regard for anything else

What should he have regard for ?  Especially, as you say, he probably had no idea about any personal issues and was just reporting a story.  I assume you realise it was ''newsworthy'' ?

A sav Blanc from NZ. reasonably priced. Nothing to write a review about.

It wasn't that long ago that a former player was regarded as having a drinking problem ... but I'm not sure many really cared.

We just wanted the bloke to go hard at the ball and hard at the man.

May having a couple of beers on a Sunday pales into insignificance by comparison.  And having a couple of beers doesn't constitute a drinking session either.

From what I see a lot of older people (around my age) have a problem hiding issues with the booze.

Self medication is not age specific.

You're right, it never works.

I don't really have an issue with Tom Morris per se. Just doing the job he is paid to do.

What I dislike is that really he is little more than a gossip columist. He's not a writer. Yet he is paid to write. He is a journalist, but only the sense that he is in the media. Like Sam McClure and that other gossip monger Tom Browne. All so called 'news breakers. So funny.

No analysis, no intelligence, no balance, no nuance and barely any more real research than trawling social media and fan sites such as this one. And so often reliant on club sources that quite frankly I don't believe exist most of the time.

Look at Morris' article posted a few minutes ago about Shaun Smith's comments about his son. A classic of the genre. Gossip pure and simple. Is it 'news worthy. Not in my book. It is 'click bait worthy', which like it or not is the now the key metric in media. Good journalism is terminal.

But I don't blame the Toms or the Same of this world, pretty little gold fish swimming as they do in the little AFL fish bowl, they are simply meeting a demand. Meeting the need for ever more content for all the TV shows, online sites, radio etc etc.

KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
