Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Not confirmed, but I think he may have split up with his missus. What is a reasonable response in that scenario?

Celebrate or commiserate.

Either way, a beer or 2 isnt exactly the end of the world.

Even if the pic was sent to Morris by a non-mfc person, he still has a person inside mfc who has told him about the apology meeting in advance and even before many/most players knew what the meeting was about.

Whoever it is inside mfc that continues to feed this creep info so he can smear our name from pillar to post, needs to be brought in and read the riot act.

We don't need people inside our club contributing to sensationalist reporting.

Morris writing this really annoys me:  "When contacted, Melbourne could not rule out either a player-led or club enforced punishment for the former Gold Coast captain".

More likely:

TM:  Will May be sanctioned?

MFC: No comment

Suddenly he has an angle about possible club sanctions!

And, if as noted in an earlier post, people in the media know that May is going thru a torrid personal time and not acknowledging that in the article is really low.  He has dredged up all his recent past with us, made a big story out of it without regard for May's welfare.

And, I wish someone would wipe the smug look he had on OTC while reporting this off his face.

All in all, he gives 'gutter journalism' a new low.

People keep talking about rehab and recovery, but from what I understand he's recovered.  He's running freely at training and looking very good.

I suspect he's now just getting the k's in as he builds up the required fitness.

People love being outraged, so I suppose this is good fodder for them.

Btw, I fail to see what Morris has done wrong.  He's a journalist trying to get a story ahead of everyone else, or at least be at the pointy end of a story.  If May is going to apologise to the playing group then there is a story, however minor I may think it is.  Maybe someone can explain to me what Morris has actually done wrong in this instance ?

Clearly O Mac’s fault for not stepping in front of Mr 5 minute hero and blocking the photo. I’m sure other members of the public recognised May and decided not to pull a phone out.

The person who took the pic and then shared it is a loser with a capital L.

Who the hell does that?

His head is disproportionately much larger than his body for starters.

More seriously, people feel aggrieved that he’s a supposed Melbourne fan but when you muck rake at every opportunity about the club you are meant to ‘support’ it get a little tiring. It was only a few weeks ago he stirred up the old McCartney is disliked chestnut.

If you were a true Melbourne supporter, your journalistic licence shouldn’t be a green light to cause media shitstorms like this muppet does.

Gee some people are being a bit rough on Morris. He is paid to report news and he has done this. And yes, this is news, purely due to the fact that May arrived at the club not within the conditioning expected. May would be disappointed, club would be disappointed and so should the supporters.

Let's get him fit, give him support and get him back playing good footy.

As for Morris, whether you like him or the news he reports, he has done what has been asked of him from his employer.

This. I’ve raised this before with no satisfactory response. He looks like one of those bobble head things one puts on the dashboard of their car. Or a Thunderbird.

If you are referring to my posts, the issues I have are:

  • that someone from the club is giving him info.
  • his reporting was slanted to reflect poorly on May, leaving no room for possible extenuating circumstances and he was quite smug in the process.

I have never met him so don't like or dislike him.  But I certainly do not like how he goes about his work.

We've had our moments on here, but I know you're not stupid.

Who Morris supports should have nothing (and I mean literally zero) to do with his work content or reporting of ''news''.

If Morris was prepared to compromise his journalistic content based upon who he grew up supporting he should look for a new career.

I'm staggered people think otherwise.  Actually, no, I'm not.

Obviously the first point isn't a concern re Morris.

So that leaves the second point.  Please quote the exact words, phrase, or sentence that particularly annoyed or offended you.

Agree. I understand if supporters are frustrated with May, but I’m more outraged about what seems like common practice these days.

The photo snapper and May are at the pub for the same reasons, yet one wants to make the other person’s business known to everyone, but that’s just me traccattack.

Not at all.

To say “he is just doing his job” is a cop out. He’s not living in abject poverty and forced into this life. It is his chosen profession and he embraces it with vigour. He has made a lifestyle choice to be a parasite for his own glory, financial gain, or satisfaction. He’s allowed to, but he’s a [censored] bloke for doing it.

Post #106 indicates someone giving Morris info is an mfc issue.

Post #107 shows what Morris didn't say as well as what he did say that imv makes his reporting slanted to reflect poorly on May.

I don't get what is parasitic about it... People in this town crave AFL news and he is one of many who captures the stories.. Don't blame him for May being unprofessional.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
