Target Ed Langdon now. Watched his game again on the weekend.  Skilled.  Great kick. Pace and run.  Likes a contest.  Happily trade our future 2020 first round pick to get him.

We need our picks. We're not in the premiership window anymore.

I want a reason to come to the footy.  Oscar Baker, Sparrow, Spargo, Bedford, Weideman, Jordon, Petty etc. don't really excite me. It's time  Jason Taylor picks up someone with a bit of flair. And no more forward pockets that aren't the full package. Bedford, fast no skills. Spargo, good skills, but slow. A jamie elliott type or no-one please.

Season 2020
*Just my personal opinion.

Delist:
Bedford, Stretch, Baker, Maynard, O.Mcd, J.Wagner.

That's 6 players. Realistically we will keep Omcd because the coaches love him for some reason so thats 5 delistings.

Use them all at the draft on quick types.  Nail the first pick and cross our fingers that one of the later picks work out.

Mate bedford is on a standard 2 year contract.

He WON'T be delisted..

Freo, remember them last trade season? Early 2nd round pick to them; which is not meant to be a knock on Ed Langon.

  • bedford is on a standard two year deal so that won't happen
  • i'd hope that stretch is a more of a trade opportunity for a third / fourth rounder with additional swap rather than delist
  • baker is a likely delist
  • maynard the same
  • o mac - don't be ridiculous, might be a trade option, but even that is unlikely
  • j wagner a likely delist

you could easily add:

  • nathan jones a possible retirement
  • jordan lewis a likely retirement
  • jkh a likely delist
  • jeff garlett a likely retirement
  • tim smith a likely delist
  • declan kielty a likely delist
  • guy walker a likely delist

then i'd personally be listening to offers for:

  • jayden hunt - second / third rounder or a player swap?
  • alex neal-bullen - third rounder or a player swap?

Priority should be Stephen Wells. Seems to make the draft picks stick for Geelong.

Reckon it’s nature not nurture, then?

Wells’ record is good but without the development of players that Geelong seem to be able to do they might not be as good as they are

I feel like we view footy very differently, mate.

Nuts. Oscar Baker will be in our 22 within 9 weeks. I really don’t get some of the reactionary thoughts on here.

The cast is irrelevant if the script is fu$#ed !!

Some people already want Jordon and Bedford delisted.....  they're teenage rookies who have played 4 or 5 games in the VFL.

Crazy times around here I tell ya.

Fremantle midfielder Ed Langdon says he will not start contract negotiations with the Dockers until the second half of the year.

Langdon, who along with fellow young Victorian midfielder Darcy Tucker shapes as one of the Dockers’ key re-signings, said he was happy at the WA club but would wait to deal with the contract issue.

Because he can't get a kick mate. There is a chasm between VFL and AFL. If he can't get near it at the lower level, do you blame some for being less than enthusiastic about his prospects ?

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
