Oh and Dave Misson can just GTFO out now. Joel Smith, Steven May and then giving Jetta the all clear to play when CLEARLY he was completely underdone and hindered.

Absolutely and one hopes that he reads this, and Pert, too, for that matter.

Tom Browne was doing his usual update on the ground with Tim Watson and said it as they threw to the break. Said he had just heard that Steven May has had a set back with his groin which could keep him out until July. Don't shoot the messenger. Just reporting what was said. Have also seen when googling a couple of other people say they heard the same thing. Hope it's not so but prepare yourselves. Doubt the club would report this one if true anyway as they already know Demon supporters are angry about the reported condition he came back in not to mention the views of many on the trade to begin with.

yep.. we didn't even get to go with hope past half way.

Cannot remember it being this bad even in the famous "odd years".

Wise,

This is absolutely on May. The fact he went publicly and shamed GC training standards is just [censored] poor and now has egg on his face. He was a leader there, what did he actually do himself to change those standards? He is 27 and mature enough to know he should have gotten himself at the best nick he could possibly be. After he did his medical the club would have given him an off season program to abide by and its clear that he didn't follow this.

Sorry but this is absolutely on him. Didn't do himself any favour by knocking out some bloke in a practice match either.

We honestly make so much excuses for some of these blokes

Completely agreed. A 27 year old going to a new club turning up unfit to pre season is [censored] inexcusable

Our current injury dilemma will be the opportunity for Petty, Kielty and Oskar Baker to break into the side and get a real taste if AFL level footy.

Similarly you would think Jeffy will get a go and young Lockhart who has over delivered from being a total nobody only 5 weeks ago.

We won't win too many games blooding young talent but they may inject the enthusiasm and urgency we so badly lack.

The players expected to return from injury in the back half of the year should not be rushed, as is our tendency to do.

As for the game plan, it is too late to change it now, we recruited for it. However, it should be obvious it needs to be reviewed and enhanced with outside pace seen as important as hard nuts.

Having been here so many times before over the last 50 years plus, l am very disappointed but not destroyed by our current position.

I believe the players the coaches and the admin crew are all fully aware of the damage we have already done to our so called "brand".

We have passed the close enough is good enough mentality of prior decades in my view, this is serious and will be treated as such at all levels.

Petty, Keilty and Oskar Baker are NQR VFL players who have been seriously underperforming at Casey. You don’t seriously want to throw them into the team when even our best players are playing poor football. That’s a recipe for disaster!

Perhaps he’s not very bright.

My brother was on Hawthorns list in the 70s. One year Kevin Heath turned up for pre season unfit and overweight. His penalty, to have  a personal  training session with John Kennedy each morning  until he was fit. Said it was tough, tough going.

Did they have a players union back then

Be prepared for this comment re: his recruitment to be littered throughout the thread.

While May was unprofessional with the way in which he approached pre-season, and I'm willing to give him a little leeway as he came from the worst club in the comp, we can't judge this deal until he retires.  Moaning about the deal just because it's hit a roadblock early in the piece isn't solving anything.

We know the bloke can play.  If he is part of a premiership side, with Lever right beside him, then I'll be a happy man.  I'm judging it on that.

The thing is wise, he was a free agent after this year so we paid top value to get him in and make us a threat this year or at the very least create the chemistry with the backline. It's a huge failure no matter how you look at it.

And he would have gone to Collingwood

Jones,Jetta,Lewis,Jkh,troy caplin, rawlings automatic delistings. These players are too slow ,too injured, lack skill and are list cloggers. Other clubs may have dual captains , it does work at demonland. I know J.Smith,May and Vanders are long term injury however you cannot get rid of everybody. Who does the Weid think he is asking via manager for a pay rise considering he is crap.

Hard to blame Misson for Jetta's injury and May's lack of condition.  Misson is the same bloke that in 2005 saw the Swans unchanged for about 10 weeks on their way to a flag they probably shouldn't have won.  His record in sports science and rehab and preparation speaks for itself.  He has the absolute confidence of Roos.  May, as a highly paid, professional athlete has a responsibility to present in decent condition.  His lack of discipline clearly extends beyond his on field brain farts. Jetta is just bad luck.  It's a collision sport and [censored] happens.  Lever the same.  If his knee recovers he will prove to be worth every bit the two first round picks we paid for him.

Jetta a list clogger eh, I would suggest you have rethink on that one, what position does troy caplin play, how long has jones been a list clogger wayne ?

Not blaming anyone in particular, but I find too many posts turn personal. It's spoiling it for those of us who just want to understand the game and share our thoughts. Please!

Lever may be ???

But the player we did not get with that other 1st Rnd pick,  never will be, for us.

I think from memory,  it would have been  'Higgins',  from my  'wanted list',  at least.

There are a few long-term posters... who cannot contain their frustrations of the footy world,  and so they dish out the anger on fellow posters in mean & derogatory posts... directed at individuals.

And they never seem to be pulled up for it... and score points against their avatars.  Some,  are protected species around here.

It says a lot about those few, who think they are gods gift to footy... and us others are mere posters.

May better work out considering we could have got the outside mid we so desperately need at pick 6...I have my doubts haven't seen enough of Gold Coast to know if hes any good. Hasn't won a Suns b&f though let alone made the AA side.

A simple solution would be for everyone to meet in person once a year and explain themselves. There are quite a few keyboard warriors who write stuff here that there is no way they would say in person. I'd suggest that before posting people should ask themselves if they would say in person what they are posting.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.

  • GAMEDAY: Sydney

It’s Game Day, and the Demons have a golden opportunity to build on last week’s stirring win by toppling Sydney at the MCG. A victory today would keep them firmly in the hunt for a finals spot and help them stay in touch with the pack chasing a place in the Top 8. Can the Dees make it two in a row and bring down the Swans?
