Was it 15 clearances at half time?  Surely Fagen needs to put a run with on Treloar??

Did Captain Snooze give the Lions their half-time speech? Boring...

Cameron's turning into a handy play maker.  Wouldn't mind seeing him in the Red & Blue.

Wow ump made a good call!!

theyre still a chance..

Edit: No theyre not.

No run with on Treloar costly.  Zorko pls

Broooce... “Hodgey might’ve given you an elbow if you’d asked another question - he’s up for the fight isn’t he.”

Female boundary rider Bruce.

You [censored]-smack.

Pies forward line is so dangerous. It makes me jealous how well they time their leads into space, always manage to find space and overlap. They don’t lead into each other’s path or fly for the same balls as often as other teams forwards. Even battlers like Mihocek manage to be productive.

Movie forwardline coaches need to study this and make changes!

That was disgraceful

I love how Collingwood’s forwards don’t lead to the ball carrier too early, they time their run which creates space to lead into.

Very good point CB.  No doubt well coached and drilled in this area.

Amazing how sniper Mathews always somehow sees the opposite to what is an obvious action from a player resulting in a free against.

Shouldve gone to Specsavers

10 extra meters to play with yet teams go into their shell from the square.  Going short and allowing the opp to retain the ball inside their 50 when they could kick it almost to mid field position towards the boundary for a stoppage (worst case scenario in most cases).

Instead Brissy went short there...twice.  Turrned it over...twice.  Got away with the first one...2nd resulted in a goal.

They also have great disposal and a fantastic mid field.

Is it my imagination or has Martin done reasonably well against Grundy?

He has but for those wondering why McInnerney wasn't picked up.

Just check out when Martin took a fairly long break forward in the 3rd (I think it was).

The big O couldn't get near it and Grundy took him to the cleaners...

Grundy is a very good player but Oscar is a long way off the pace.

Round 23 2017 - the day the Collingwood footy club went past the MFC.

What, because they beat Brisbane? A side which hasn't made the finals since 2009?

nah, pies have been long past us for a long, long time - we used to be the two biggest clubs in the competition by a big, big stretch

same number of flags since 58 (three apiece) but umpteen dozen gf appearances for them and continued strength as a club over an extended period of time whilst we have floundered on and off the field

but if yr talking recent times, they only went past us on-field on prelim final day last year - they won, we didn't

they are currently playing a great brand of footy tho, whereas we need to improve significantly to match last year's results

The BEST thing about this game was that they managed to take up three DH's on the one plane to umpire this game. Thereby ensuring that we will not get them in our game this week. They were deplorable Two terrible decisions in the first qtr. One hit the post obviously and another went over the line, called a goal and yet was touched beforehand. Brisbane were crucified.

Don't speak too soon. Razor Ray is booked in for Saturday. But David Rodan is one of the goal umpires. Hope Melbourne gives him plenty to smile about. Love his reaction when Melbourne kicks a goal.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
