And would we be interested in chasing him? Do we have any way to make a trade if we were?

I believe we have to use our first round pick this year at the draft, so we probably wont have the currency unless someone gets traded out.

Thoughts?

There is something about Jack Martin that doesn't sit right with me.

Perhaps it's his consistency. He has this seemingly limitless potential but never produces week to week.

Would take a proper pre season & good conditioning/fitness ?

Exactly the kind of player we need. Would play that wing/half forward role perfect with his speed and football smarts.

But he's not an inside midfielder so we'll pass anyway.

If he's any good ( really ) Dew will try to keep him. If he doesn't...we probably don't want him ;)

We will take Brayden Sier instead and add him to our list of inside mids....

Irrespective of who is available we have to hit the draft hard this year. You can't go four years without adding quality youngsters to your list without causing a major issue in the future (see Melbourne 2007-2014 as a result of list management issues in the early 2000s).

Outside mid, good in the air and kicks goals. Would love him at the Dees.

In terms of trade value GC would likely want 2 first rounders for him, I don't think many teams will be willing to part with that kind of currency...

ssshhH  Ffs,   Mahoney and Co will see this,  and start thinking about retail therapy again.

Jack Martin !!!

I wasn't keen on targeting KK when the likes of Shiel was available. I'm also underwhelmed by Jack Martin. Clearly, GC has a very poor development program as well as standards. It will probably take KK 12-months to get up to standard, same applies with May and his fitness (injuries aside). With that said, I don't mind the idea of targeting Martin, as long as the price is right. However, that never happens with "let's be friends and get the deal done" Mahoney. Also, I'd question the pursuit if the like of Josh Kelly was ignored. It's time we go hard and target these big names as opposed to these second or third rate players. The likes of Collingwood, Hawthorn, Richmond and Essendon continue to get it done (O'Meara, Mitchell, Treloar, Adams, Hoskin-Elliot, Prestia, Lynch, Smith, Shiel), why can't we.

Martin would be huge addition.

It's a pipe dream though.

How would it be HUGE? He hasn't exactly set the world on fire. U18 potential stops once they're listed and constantly playing in the firsts.

We will have between 3rd And 6th pick, that should get us someone fairly good

Well it worked with Petracca he is huge!

Isn't GWS Kelly a RFA this year? Or has he re-signed? If, if by chance we play finals, I'd throw at least $1mill pa to him and use our first rounder on young, fast mid with good decision making. Apparently we can't trade our 2019 1st rounder anyway

He is class and polish, that's why he'd be huge.

We have zero X-factor in our starting 22.

He has the ability to kick a goal from nothing, the ability to set-up an opportunity for goal that wasn't there.

He is quality and we are absolutely desperate for that forward of the ball.

Would he get a game ahead of ANB though?

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
