The Petracca squib summed up his season thus far.

We need to win next week or it’s season over. Only 3 teams in 100+ years have won the flag from 0-3.

You hope to get four goals s quarter   Bloody not four goals for the whole game !

Bit unfair though

wet, surgeries, we forget how to resemble ourselves, we didn’t know when the season started, no one could get the BOM forecast  etc etc

Absolutely squibbed it. He has been awful. Not improving...a footballer going nowhere! I want him to be good but it ain’t happening

They and we,  all fell for the positive fugazi during Preseason.

And we all made much of the fugazi ourselves,  selling ourselves our own hype.

The players obviously believed it,  and are mentally under-prepared now,  and are playing catch-up,  Re confidence and also fitness,  because I think the Mfc fell into the same trap,  as we have.

Not really, no experienced Melbourne supporter believed all the media BS

Barlett should have Pert ,Goodwin, Jones in for a coffee first thing tomorrow.

Losing a home game to a non finalist followed up by this says there is something wrong somewhere.

Goodwin will be full of excuses, because this club loooooves an excuse. We had a short pre season. Boo hoo. We played finals and now we are unfit. Boo hoo.

Cry me a [censored] river Melbourne. Let’s continue not to ever compete in September and have long and healthy pre seasons.

We aren’t winning the flag this year no matter what.

Start the rebuild again!

Maybe we can grab one of WCE’s theee small forwards who are fast, tackle and provide pressure.

This is a good time to look for which players continue to fight it out, in this last Qtr...  and again next week.  To rise to the occasion and fight back for form.

Those who turn up their toes in the next 5 Qtrs,  can go back to Casey for a month.

This is a timely reminder to our infant supporters who just expected strong performances, after finals last year.

Get in your lane kids..... This is more like the Dees we know.

I’ll take Cory Wagner. Petracca needs a rocket

That's the answer? Wagner? FMD.

Who replaces Lockhart? Who replaces Sparrow? Who replaces Frost? Who replaces ANB? Who replaces Jones? Who replaces KK?

Replacing with a Wagner is just shuffling the deck chairs.

I'm not saying you are wrong. It's just that replacing Trac is a luxury we can't afford at this time. I would love it if it was. I'm very disappointed with his output, just a bit more realistic than some others.

Please surely you never seriously thought that was a possibility

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
