TISM reference with a slight allusion to Colin Garland.

If you know the band members, you will know that one of the vocalists was Ron Hitler Barassi. I thought that that indirect reference to the MFC should be parlayed into my natural user name: Humphrey B. Flaubert. However, as Col's early nickname at the club was Humphrey as he never talked, I added the Colin bit.

I once got a private message on here once  (unironically I think, it's hard to tell on the internet sometimes) asking if I was the bloke from TISM. Alas, I'm not

Hold onto your hats, because it just so happens that my first name is Jack and I follow the Demons. It goes without saying that 16 year old me wasn't that inspired during the making of this account.

I've worked with explosives in the farms of Victoria, the coal mines of Qld, and gold mines of the Solomon Islands since 1999

Any time a blast doesn't fire as intended, you dont accept blame yourself, you blame a faulty detonator.

I was in a ZZ Top phase and this song was playing when I signed up.  Liked the idea that to be a demon tragic often feels like you got no clothes on.  People stare and wonder aloud how small your stocks are.  Not any more, proud to have my membership out at every opportunity.

I visited Prague for the first time in 2007, and noticed "Praha" brandished everywhere, which, obviously, is Czech for "Prague". I always thought it would be a cool name for the bar I was going to open before I turned 30.

Anyway I never opened the bar so thought I'd change my username to this. Prior to that it was "Cudi_420" which was just a joke name (Kid Cudi, 420, blaze it... ya know?), and before that, calabreseboy, which was a username I used online, dating back to my teenage years when I was a fully sick wog boy.

In all honesty I picked my stage name before I realized that such direct reference to former players wasn't exactly the done thing on Demonland.

But that all said, this bloke was pretty much my favorite player as a kid and an absolute bloody legend of the MFC, so I'm sticking to it.

You chose well

‘McQueen’ was actullay inspired by my then 2 year old son who was obsessed with Lightning McQueen the racing car. That coupled with my deep regard for the ‘King of Cool’ is why I wear and cycle the Steve McQueen avatars.

Back in the early 90s I spent a bit of time in the Old Magistrates Court in Spring St. The part I loved was the breaks when the various legal teams would adjourn to the Central Courtyard and the debates would start. I was there as a subject matter expert and informant and the Legislation the proceedings where being brought under was very new.

I would get questions about what various things meant, from our team of Solicitors and the Barrister. It was a great education as the barrister in particular would ask my opinion and then proceed to argue against everything I said (sounding familiar?) Where I could point him towards supporting facts I was on much safer ground. There was more than one occasion when his interpretation of the Legislation  caused me to re-think my position or change how I was arguing it.

As a barrack room lawyer I love a debate (when I have time) but what really irks me is people who offer an opinion as fact and they haven't done the research or read the rules/legislation and essentially cannot provide any evidence to support their argument. If you ever have time, go sit in some open court sessions. You'll very quickly see what happens when opinion given on the basis of feelings is used to support an argument. I would love to see more people educated in this area instead of getting their opinions from "social" media or the "Media" in general, but I digress.

For a long time on this site I was a guest and didn't post. But I was always struck by the similarity with my Magistrate Court involvement.

When it came to choosing a name I thought it a nice homonym to use "worship", as a Magistrate was addressed as "Your Worship"

I know there are a number of members here who have a legal background and yes, I know Magistrates are now referred to as "Your Honour". Probably because the great unwashed never new the difference between a Magistrate and a Judge, (that's an "opinion").

Unfortunately, DHonour just doesn't work and besides, I'd rather have the name shortened to DW than DH

Legend? Absolute champion, please! Great name to have, and well selected. I still have dreams about the accuracy of his clearances and his superb kicking to a teammate some 60 metres away....and his desire for the ball no matter what! Only the opposition 'stagers' got a kick off him - and that was gifted by some snot-gobbling umpire misreading the purity of his work ethic.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
