Can we put together a list of our current players' real nicknames, meaning the ones that are used by the players' themselves, rather than the ones supporters might like to use? I know Jones is 'Chunk' but what are other players known as?  I've heard some people call Harmes 'Nut' and others call him 'Chomp'. But are either, or both, actually what his team-mates use?

If posters want to add their own ideas, please make clear it's not the player's true nickname. What I want this thread to tell me is what players' nicknames actually are.

From the pocket profiles on the club website.

Fritsch: Fritta, Bayls

Petracca: Trac

Gawn: Dougy

T-Mac: ....T-Mac

Spargo: Spargs, Chuck

Brayshaw: Stallion, Ticker, Rooster (not sure if this is Gus taking the [censored] on his profile)

Some other well known ones:

Hibberd: Pig

Oliver: Clarry

Neal-Bullen: Nibbler

Kennedy-Harris: Jay Kay

Im assuming May will be Stevo or Maysie?

Jones: Chunk

Preuss: Goose

Oskar Baker: The baby maker

Mitch Hannan: The cannon

He was pretty firey as a first year player and that could get even more accentuated as he gets more physical strength and confidence.  Could almost be said to have the personality of Chucky as well.

Could be a good asset to have a player that gets under the skin of the opposition and their supporters every week.  Could be our improved version of Hayden Ballantyne.

Not that bloody literally, but it wouldn't hurt if he was the equivalent of a killer on the footy feild.  Every good team gains from having a few players with a bit of mongrel and killer instinct, providing that agression is well focused and controlled.  Watching how he plays, I think Spargo fits that mold pretty well.

No coincidence that this thread appears after Cameron Pedersen leaves.

I've always called Mitch  Hannan ...Jimmy, a few younger folks may not get the reference.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
