Bigfooty did their phantom recently for anyone that wants a look.

https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/2018-big-footy-phantom-draft.1208310/

I'm feeling pretty relaxed about this draft. Times have changed a lot since the BP days.

There's a few names in the mix for our early picks that excite me but I won't be disappointed if they're available and we pass on them. Some of BP's picks had me screaming at the screen. Tapscott and Gysberts come to mind as there were players I wanted still available.

Jason Taylor has the runs on the board. I'd love Sturt, Williams or a few others with our early picks but if Taylor passes on them I'll back him in. These days I'd doubt the ability of our non selection rather than doubting our recruiting dept. Thank you JT.

I thought Isaac Quaynor was bound to Collingwood Academy and they would match a bid at 14?

Any chance we would take Mchenry at 23 if available

Knightmare was the mock recruiter for Collingwood. He didn't match the bid.

Kennerley's kicking doesn't look too flash but you can put him amongst players like Duursma, Sturt, Turner, O'Halloran, E.Smith as midfielders around the mark of 23 to 28.

McKenzie is a steal at 61.

Hind is the exact player we should be after at 82.

Can someone take away my thoughts on Williams being the next Juice Newton? he even has his number. I don't think we need him another midfielder or small forward would be better.

Bedford as expected has his bid matched after 28 and before 54.

The BS spouted in these reviews goes on:

Lukosius: "The key forward is a ‘once in a generation’ prospect and is one of the best player we’ve seen in the Under 18 system for a long time."

How long is a generation?  Has this guy ever seen Buddy Franklin or Nick Riewoldt?

i'm dubious about "super draft" prognostication, I've seen it all before.

Roughly about one season 'Fifty'...

Previous once in a generation players to name a few have been Lynch, Danniher, Hogan, Boyd, Moore etc....

The way once in a generation is going I'm pretty sure we can get it down to a week.

Yeah "once in a generation" key forward is pick 2.  How good must Walsh be?

Yeah ... and I don’t know why Port Adelaide are so keen to get Lukosius when they already have a tall blond key forward in Jack Watts.

I think we should have a look at Tom Berry, Jarrod's younger brother.

For anyone who didn't watch much of Brisbane this year I'm very confident Jarrod Berry is a star in the making, as well as a captain in the making. Really good all round player capable of playing pretty much anywhere on the ground. Tom isn't as tall but has similar characteristics.

If we're looking for versatile midfield depth then I'd be looking at Tom.

Watched McHenry on 3 occasions live.  Not even in Vineys league for toughness, build or kicking length.  McHenry is a Gresham or Spargo type.

Fully agree on all three criteria. Not in the same league and never will be in that league.

Big footy phantom draft has Dees choosing Bailey Williams and Jacob Kennerley.  Both would be welcome additions.

My oath! Particularly Williams.

Many players that have been mentioned on here were negated with 'should go earlier', but having a mixed lolly bag of all of them in mind should net us one or two of em as they can't all be picked. I suppose that's how we got Petty last year

Twomey has Bailey Williams outside the first round. With probably Fraser Turner at 28

Big Footy groupies have him coming to us. Kennerley at 28

Knightmare has Bailey Williams coming to us and Fraser Turner at 28

Trend?

All that matters is who Jason “The Man” Taylor picks.

Then in the "spirit" of MFCSS, it won't happen.

Personally think we'll recruit another mature age ruckman.

Not sure we'll go down the path of recruiting a skinny project.

Given the amount of players drafted each year and the number of highly ranked key forwards, I would take it as a figure of speech and treat it as a rare occurrence. How many star key forwards have been drafted since Hogan? Not many. If any.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
