You'd have thought we failed to make the 8 or something with all the players wanting out. Or is it a case of Demon players being highly sort after commodities?

Yes we will "sort" them out.

Would have thought he would not be looking eleswhere after the way we have nursed him back to playing, and rushed him into the firsts.

Playing finals should be an attraction, not a repellant.

Could it be that Vanders got a nudge at his end-of-season meeting? Is Melbourne clearing the decks for some serious trade action? I like Vanders, but I'm not sure how much I like him, since he is so often injured, and often goes missing in games. Without any related information I'd keep him for at least another year.

Wtf.....

Are we the opposite of a destination club?

We must be the first team to make a prelim yet going to have 10+ senior list changes

Article says he has a good relationship with the Coach and clearly would be happy with his last part of the season.

Article also says he has to help run the family business and it is too hard from Melbourne.

Also hasn't asked for a trade yet.

And if the 10 we get in are nearly all better than the ones who left, your concern is?

Didn’t expect that.

Why??

The article says that his father passed away recently and he’s been running the business from a distance. Moving to NSW might help.

It's quite simple, we want to keep him but offer 1 year with maybe an option on another, Sydney, like the Saints for Kent, offer a straight 3 year deal, which one would anybody take?

A move back to NSW as well

Don’t mind Vanders but he doesn’t make our 22 any quicker. A second or third rounder back that we can pass on to GCS for Kolodjashnij would do.

It makes sense that he may want to move.

He has great attributes, but disposal can let him down.

He's a bottom 6 player, so it's no big deal if he goes.

Yea, did anyone actually read the article.

A big overhaul like that could cause a lack of team chemistry.

You gotta admit it's not ideal losing 25% of your list.

Unless you're carlton

Are people so heartless as to not see why he might want to move?

There are real lives to these footballers as well....

Do people bother to read the article before commenting?

I agree but it's probably more to do with stability in our best 22.

So far apart from Hogan being mentioned we don't look like losing those players.

Love Vanders but he's fringe best 22, Kent hasn't played a lot and the others were past their use by.

I'm not sure that cleaning out the bottom half of the list will have a lot of effect on team chemistry.

Adding more than 2 or 3 to the top half of the list could cause problems.

Poor bloke has had a tough year with the death of his father and taking over the responsibility of running the family business from a distance.

It would be a tremendous loss to lose him but sometimes when you are being pulled in two direction you have to make these difficult decisions.

I sincerely hope he stays but would understand if he want to be closer to home.

Agree and if he wants to move back closer to family to assist in running the business then we should assist as long as we get what we want. I have no issues with those that are looking elsewhere. Except for Hogan the others are bottom 6 players or VFL at best. Certainly looks like we are clearing the decks for some serious trade action. Can't wait.

Don't forget posters the nucleas of our side from Prelim game are still there!.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
