My understanding is his brother also might be at the pies this year.

Not sure if he's father son, or just speculation

The brother is expected to go father son according to the news. I was wondering if Collingwood are closer to knowing the decision from Langdon. Kelly is more like a third tall(ish) defender I believe.

With all this desperation from the Adelaide clubs to get Rankine and Lukosius, we'd be silly not to get involved. Obviously we need Hogan to get done, but then package up everything we have to Gold Coast for May, KK and pick 2 - for Rankine.

Then Adelaide can pick up the phone in 2 years and ask us what he's worth. By then he'll have played 2 seasons and be a 2 time premiership hero. Could set ourselves up for the next 10 years, while getting everything we need now.

Or was he talking about someone else?

Shoulders, one started playing up around the 3/4 mark of the season, other one during finals.

Burton called on holiday to be told he’ll be traded. Wtf. Probably their best young player. They ask loyalty and show none. All to get an inconsistent flakey player in wingard.

As pass on 5 and 11 from Freo with other picks for May, pick 2 and Special K?

What else can we give them?

Dean Kent has been traded from Melbourne to St Kilda for pick 65.

The fast but injury-plagued forward goes there on a three-year deal.

Next years first?

Maybe but I imagine GC would want a second rounder as well.

Pay the price I reckon. Not sure how it gets done, or even if it's possible, but I'd be asking GC, that's for sure.

If Tyson was happy to play there it could get done. As it stands now I can’t see how we get pick 2 or 3.

so he can refuse

The only time I can recall a player doing that was Brad Sewell (ironically Hawks as well) when he was going to be traded for Ryan Ferguson.

It's a tough position for the player because you'd coached by the bloke that tried to get rid of you. Still worked alright for Sewell and unfortunately not us.

Someone with a better memory than will no doubt correct me but I thought it was actually Ferguson who said no I’m not leaving.

Actually sorry you're right, I think the deal was basically agreed a upon and it was Fergburger that said no.

From the AFL site summing up the clubs, this is ours:

If

there's one club which has become ruthless in every facet of its operation ...

then

it is this one. It is all-in on the pursuit of success. It could still end up ugly. But we love the bull-at-a-gate desperation it is displaying on and off field.

Correct. As the story goes, Sewell had emptied his locker and was ready to go. Ferg went in to Neale Daniher’s office, turned on the waterworks and begged him not to execute the trade. This was right after the Broadbridge thing and the Brad Miller lead Phi Phi Island memorial construction, which had a profoundly bonding effect on the players, so Daniher caved. It was a very unique situation though.

Our club should be chasing Scully. Who would you rather? Tyson and Nathan Jones on a wing? Or this endurance beast?

I don't care what happened in 2011. People need to get over it.

An outside pacy and skillful winger is what we need and Scully fits the bill.

Completely agree that he’d fill that role perfectly, but Scully is all about Scully. It’s all about team now.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
