$1.2m ... time to dig the old "Scully" money bag out of the bottom draw.

No matter what we get in return he will need to cop it if he plays us over here and his nose needs to be rubbed in it during our next 5 yrs of dominance.

Would Freo not just wait another year so they don't have to pay overs and pick him up in free agency? Gives them more time to sort out their key pieces before then.

He's not a free agent next year, so they'll still have to trade or he'll have to chance the draft.

I know not everyone is the same but it's interesting how Lever was always at training sessions and Roaming Brians but Hogan was not to be seen. I'm sure someone will come up with a good reason for that but it's eye catching.

Lever had also gone overseas following his injury, so had time to adjust to not playing out the season. Hogan only injured himself late season, so it might have been more beneficial to hang around for his rehab etc. I'm sure the club would have been very involved in his movements, and probably only had a limited number of flights/tickets they could use.

Freo put their foot down last year with GCS and demanded pick 2  for Weller or there was no deal. GCS eventually folded and paid pick 2.

Melb does the same. If Jessie wants to go, fine but we get what we want. Picks 4 & 5 or no deal. Dont except 9 & 10

I'm unsure Cards, but I do remember someone, maybe Fox saying he was there?

I thought they cut to him and Lever looking dejected in the coaches box?

RSN just fanning the flames me thinks.

Off topic, but earlier this year Fox went to a clip of Eddie McGuire going off his chops at a Collingwood game. Then Eddie clarified on TripleM on the Monday that he wasn't even at the game! So I don't believe anything anymore, those lengths are boundaries too far IMO.

Melbourne dont have to do a thing, just sit back and wait.

Have a back up plan if Hogan says he wants a trade, but we want the lot if a trade goes down.

Ready made player aged 24, the peak of his career. Pick 4,5 and Brayshaw have to play hard ball, we hold all the cards.

Remember we dont need to trade him, how much do Freo want him?

Answer: BAD

Ross and the freo board are under pressure. Many members handing back memberships and surely sponsers are worried.

Getting hogan is rockstar stuff.

Think about the risks to them. Jesse meets a woman that will not leave Melbourne(the city) and she has his baby. Would he still go?

Are you volunteering? Coz I can spot a flaw in your plan

Why are the top Teams in the AFL able to bring in or keep most if not all of their Class Players to be  on board, with reduced offers centred around everyone getting their fair share, which accelerates when there is more success as a consequence, except maybe us...ergo Hogan?

Geelong lost Ablett and Hawks lost Buddy so there is a precedent for strong Club’s losing star players. Both clubs incidentally did ok without them.

Because Freo will be worried about big brother West Coast swooping in as a replacement for Josh Kennedy

and that is what we have to get cooking to make the deal work our way.

At present Freo think they are the only ones in the market which doesn't make for the best outcome.

Trouble is Kennedy or Darling would need to be traded to give them some currency and not sure where they would get the other first rounder to make it work.

Perhaps Jesse might like to try the surf at the Gold Coast?

Do you or anyone have any images of him in the Coaches box v WCE?

He was at the Geelong game from memory, but I'm unsure of others.

Here is an intricatre trade between Port, Freo and Brisbane.

(https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-trade-news-threeway-trade-discussions-begin-to-send-lachie-neale-to-brisbane-picks-to-port-adelaide-and-fremantle/news-story/50aa9995716b2deb3cc588af146fcce2

Not shown but Port gets pick #10 from North for Polec.  Later pick trades also involved.  In this Freo keeps their current pick #5.  Pretty good deal for Freo to have picks 5, 9 and 10.  Question is what do they do with them?

Morris hints at Freo usng #9 and #10 for a Hogan trade (or to stock pile young talent).  Nothing definitive but should start tongues wagging and excite quite a few on here.

If Jesse can't/won't commit now, then it best he is traded as MFC have answered his past doubts on where we are going.  Also, I'm sure he would want to avoid the personal toll of the media harassing him about a new contract throughout 2019.  Its a big burden if he stays for 2019 without a contract renewal.  We would also want to avoid the distraction that media attention would cause.

If that Freo deal  was offered and Jesse wanted to go we couldn't turn it down.  We lose a great asset but at the end of the day all parties are better off and we can concentrate of football.

Not saying it won't happen, but Port would be stupid to do that trade. The draft is still very much a lottery and I would rather have two top 10 picks than one top 5 pick.

My biggest concern that nobody has mentioned is, who pays his salary next year if he goes considering he's reportedly on $800k here.

If the reported $1.2m/year offer is true (no idea if it is or not) then it will be Freo. We're not pushing him out the door like Watts, the only circumstance I could see where we pay some of his contract is if it helps get us a better trade deal.

Yep which is what I said in a few posts after that, if it helps us get 2 early picks then so be it, as long as it's not overs I'm happy.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
