To be honest I have never heard so much uneducated and poorly researched shizen dribble in years than I have on TradeRadio this week, it's actually a disgrace. Switched off.

They've got Hutchy in their ear, saying you f*ckers have to fill 3 hours of this. Make it exciting, sell ads, turn it up to 11 or I'll sack you on air.

So they have to flap their jaws and not admit that they're blue skying and outright guessing. That they're ignorant doesn't help.

It's like when CNN have some breaking news. "Something happening in Des Moines Ohio but we're not sure yet. Jim?" "Kathy, I'm here in Des Moines and for sure something big is happening but we have no information yet. We have here some random bystander who also doesn't know what's going on. Sir, can you tell us about the thing that none of us know about?"

It's what you do when you have to make noise about something when you don't know anything about said something.

Dal Santo yesterday saying Tyson is a good user on the outside.... seriously no idea! He's an inside mid with questionable disposal who's been forced to play on the wing.

I heard that one. Mr Machine Gun Mouth said he had "smooth" disposal and I nearly drove off the road.

I'd suggest stop listening and giving them air time.

Many former SEN listeners have taken up your advice in advance. Ratings are trending down.

No. He was drafted in 2012 and was with us at Casey in 2013. His first year on the senior list was 2014.

And he didn't play seniors until 2015....

I can’t see how or why we would take a poor deal, on the assumption that he has a preference to go but isn’t hell bent on it, which is how it’s being described.

I pray we don't take it, but its a possible outcome

If a listener called in and suggested such a thing, those numbskulls would start talking about it. But they're still numbskulls.

sounds fair to me ;)

That's not what he said at all. Demonland has a real history of people coming on here and basically entirely misrepresenting statements of people quoted in the media.

Ironic!

Edit: This is what Mahoney said.  http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2018-10-02/hogan-yet-to-decide-on-home

“Steven May is a player we have been tracking for a little while,” he said.

“He still has to make a decision whether he wants to leave Gold Coast, but we think as a club, if he decides to come to Melbourne, we’d be a really good choice for him.

“He’s the type of player we need in our backline and we’ll be able to do a deal if that opportunity does come.”

Despite acknowledging the potential of a Hogan-May trade, Mahoney reinforced that several choices still need to be made.

“The only link is that we wouldn’t be able to afford to get Steven May with Jesse on our list,” he said.

“There is a decision to be made first of all by Jesse and then what flows out of that are the things that we’ll consider over the next week.”

Note:- "able to afford to get".   to get . to do the trade. He does not say unable to keep or unable to have. I believe this means unable to afford the currency required to do the trade this year. He makes no mention of cap space.

Except TR is loaded up with flogs who support other teams fearful of us getting even stronger.

No he didn't. He said we couldn't afford May without Hogan leaving. I took that to mean we had nothing to trade (picks). We need early picks to afford to be able to trade for quality players.

Thats what I think as well. I think its been confused with salary cap - I dont think he articulated it clearly.

He definitely meant draft picks because we made a significant play at gaff. we have the cap room for both. Not the picks to trade

We would be signing their praises if they bothered to try and be sensible for a change.

If Freo don’t give two top 10 picks this year then he plays for us and I couldn’t care if he leaves for the draft the year after.

Next year with Hogan we have a good crack at top 4.

This trade either benefits us or don’t do it. Don’t want equal or fair.

I think he articulated it as he intended. He is one clever hombre that one.

How times change.

A few years ago, Hogan's departure would have been seen as a sign of failure by the club, of yet another star player leaving for the money and success at another club. Perhaps the Frawley departure is a case in point, and he was not even a star.

Now most of us have confidence in this footy club and no longer see us as the whipping boy of the Victorian based clubs.

We have tasted success and have confidence in the club and its decision makers.

Confidence and belief is an amazing thing.

We think the clubs decision makers will do the right thing and many now concede that losing Hogan may not be such a bad thing.

Imagine the media's take on it a few years ago. No longer.

I would love to see Hogan remain but I now have a different feeling about it all.

No longer the sentiment of loyalty but a quest for success, whatever it takes.

Melbourne apologise to Hogan and say we are happy to let you go but freo are low balling us.

...

We also come out looking like the good guys, as freo are the ones not willing to pay his worth.

This is the payoff for the 'fair and reasonable' trading strategy seen with the recruitment of Lever.

The high ground to say to the player and his manager: "We respect your talent and value and have shown than when we target someone we get the deal done."

"If Freo won't respect your value, you''ll be here for 2019 and if Freo don't come to the party at the end of 2019, you'll have to go to the draft."

equal 2) we get a poor deal but take it so as we get May

I think what people are missing is that we are about outcomes and winning flags, not winning or losing trades.

If we get our outcome by trading Jesse we won't worry the small stuff.  If we don't get our outcome we won't trade.

Good trades increases the likelihood of good outcomes, however.

The thing freo will be very aware of is Jesse isn’t 100% on staying or leaving and there is a serious possibility if he stayed and we had s great year and won the flag or went close, he may well decide this is pretty exciting I’m going to stick around.

This may be their only chance because he’s already knocked them back multiple times so they won’t risk it by haggling too much, they know he’s worth 4&5 and that’s what they will give up. If they want to swap 5 to the power and give us 4&9 they can throw in Alex Pearce as well to further bolster our backline

we hold all the cards. If freo want him, he’s theirs by they have to pay the price we set, and they should be grateful, given the player Jesse is and will become 4&5 is pretty reasonable. Treloar was 2&7 and Jesse is a key position player as well.. if Gibbs, treloar and lever are 2 first rounders  then Jesse possibly is more like 3

Sam Mclure made me really angry this morning. But it seems i am not alone.

Why are these shiitstirrers allowed to be on Air?

Hogan is worth 2 FIRST ROUND Picks at least. If that deal is not wanted Jesse plays next year under his present contract.

You Mclure are lucky i do not know where your office is, because you need a serious talking down. Your ego is far too large and your haircut is a complete disgrace.

Pizz of you low life piece of junkmail...

McClure suggesting Hogan isn't worth two first round picks when he is one of the best young key forwards in the game.....

I'd suggest stop listening and giving them air time.

Funny that's just what i did yesterday, just got so sick of them.

Treloar was 2&7

Just to be completely clear it was Treloar + 33 for 9 + 8 (next year) + 63

A 2nd rounder came back to GWS.

Ditto, just stopped listening, reading and worrying. It makes one forget how good the recovery this year actually was for us all. What will be, will be with regard to the acquisitions and trades; I'd still stick to our associations with players being both thoughtful and professional. We are the MFC, after all. Hope the team is ready for a very big pre-season preparation and our aspiring acquisitions and retentions can come to fruition.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
