Good God. That was a fantastically humorous read.

They have no idea...

this was probably the most developed thought :

"What rarified air we are in presently.

The club that wants to poach a dual club champion off us played their hand too early and now have to pay significant overs to get the deal done or both player and the other club look like dills.

Then to top it all off a player we’ve been chasing for years pops back on the radar and whilst the host club wants to screw us as hard as they can - find themselves desperate for draft picks to secure a trade target of their own. So instead they roll out their big guns (GLyon) to try and scare us into a lopsided deal when they might just have to take what we’re offering and not get the ‘overs’ they were after.

Maybe it’s just lucky timing but for someone who seems to have had luck on his side most of his career to date - Belly sure knows when to time his run."

Has anyone stopped to think that the offer is all they have. You can't offer something you don't have.

You can't buy something you can't afford...

there's still the stench of theatrical pantomime about all of this. Pompous public postering.... private accord ( or agreement to do it) perhaps. Possibly too much to hope for.( sorry...got a good deal on 'P's" )

Seems to much like erractic overture

That puts you in a very small group jr.

I think the FD are for reasons unknown to us hell bent on him leaving.

Couldn't really care less, od

Not the first time I've stood up for my beliefs

If Hogan doesn't get traded, he will enhance our list, not downgrade it

Freos pick6 has gone to Port, they’re getting pick 5 from Brisbane for Neale, so we should take nothing less than pick 5 & pick 11 for Hogan.

Theres talk that Freo are going to offer us picks 11 & 2nd rounder as they want to keep pick 5

No way in the world should accept that even if GS accept 11 for May.

Two 1st rounders or keep Hogan next year & go with the 3 talls in the forward line & existing backs plus Lever in defence, could just about win a flag in 2019 with that line up.

Yep, that is the best solution at present and it would leave the procrastinators of this joy ride in the lurch regarding their wishes.

Which in a nut shell mfc's trading philosophy is to be fair, not play hardball or bend other clubs over (bingo) and get traded done The Kent deal being a good example.

After all it's not as if they get new clubs to trade with every year or this is the lady year of trading.

Haha does bingo include when you drop the reference yourself? If so, what did you drink!?

Imagine what Hogan is thinking. Fremantle  really don't rate me.  If they did they would make a realistic offer.

"$33 for a carton of Winnie Blue? How long's that been going on??"

This is a spot on comment by one of their own members:

"Fremantle during trade week remind me of that fat kid at school who used to go around trying to shaft everyone in basketball card trading deals."

Classic.

I do remember they tried to get their current forward and then wouldn't part with the picks and screwed him for a year.  Why would like you to go a club like that.

So two different takes on the same story...

Final offer from Freo which we have rejected - Trade Radio, TV news

First official offer from Freo, which we have rejected, but we are still talking - PerthNOW

Which is it?

The latter would make more sense, given as some have already noted, that is all they actually have to offer as we speak.

I once had a collectable car, I  had a guy pester me for years to buy it, but wouldn't make an offer. Finally he offered me $2000. 30 years later that car is worth over $250000. I didn't bother to call him back. I think he missed out because he couldn't see what he was looking at and was too greedy.

They had 6

They have Cerra... they have Brayshaw as well. They have plenty to offer still.

The trade offer from Freo does not match the size of the contract or JH age. Its a BS low ball offer straight out of Trumps “Art of the Deal”.  Its designed to try and force MFC into a mid position. Problem is that this tactic only works when you are in a position of power. In this instance Jesse has not requested a trade and is  contracted.

Bell needs to read up on negotiation tactics. This is amateur hour.

The only strategy left for MFC is to walk away and force JH to play out his contract.

Correct. Bell’s aim with lowball offer is to soften us up to accept pick 5 & 23. They knew we’d reject 11 & 23 outright and stomp our feet angrily.

People need to look past emotion and see coldly what Freo are trying to do.

Our move on the chessboard now must be to hit back twice as hard. Say the deal’s off and Jesse will now honour his contract with the MFC.

Bully them back. Watch them cave and come crawling back to us.

I don’t understand why the AFL media besides Damian Barrett ironically seems to be totally talking down Hogan’s value. He’s easily the best player on the move this trade period. Sam McClure the nuffie thinks wingard is worth more

If we get Pick 5 and 11, I'd be happy to trade 5 for May.  You would rather do 11, but I doubt Gold Coast takes that.

Then we have May and we can go to the draft with Pick 11 to snare a really good player.  I doubt we do any better than that, but I'm not sure we could anyway.

I we never have deal with way to go Freo again it will be too soon.

Pick 11 is unders or Hogan, and i don't think gc would take 11 for May? All Freo have done is help pa out to get the SA kids and set them up for the next 10 years.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
