Brayshaw scoffs at suggestions that Jesse should be traded on the AFL exchange podcast.

Brayshaw labelled the storyline ‘a very, very knee-jerk type of reaction’ and was confident that a Melbourne forward line of Hogan, Weideman and Tom McDonald could function successfully in the future.

"It was a terrific performance (from Weideman), but people are very quick to discount the amount of work that 'Hoges' has done for us throughout the season. He’s been a superstar for us for a very long time," Brayshaw said.

Cue 'well he would say that' or 'what else is he going to say' type comments......

Ha Ha, I could’ve opened with that binman, Gus couldn’t say much else really, but I like hearing it nonetheless. Jesse played a huge part to get us here and I think I mentioned it in just about my only post in this thread a while back.

On 360 last night the hosts discussed the ‘trade’ option and Robinson stated Jesse isn’t worth 2 first round picks. I wouldn’t even know and don’t really care what a viable trade would look like as I’m so against trading him.

He's right. He's worth at least 3.

He could have played a straight bat and certainly not been as effusive or dismissive of the idea. One of the brothers. A rising star winner who averages over 2 goals game. A star.

I am going to try and stay out of this thread because reading some of the frankly ridiculous comments (we must act! he has to prove he want to stay! he needs to sign! yes he is gun, but we could trade in another gun! we don't need him! i'm not saying we SHOULD trade him, but if he wants to go home! etc etc) does my head in. The thread keeps popping up in the recent posts function and like a fool i can't help but to look.

But its not all silly posts. This being a good example of a rational, logical one. Leaving aside the fact Jessie is incredibly unlikely to want to leave a club on the brink of a sustained period of finals success for one who is on the complete opposite trajectory (and he would have agree to a trade of course) the club has been shouting from the roof tops about building a team first, 22 brothers running out together , fully connected, group love culture.

For pete's sake it recently became public that our motto this year is one borrowed form the great Norm Smith - Esprit de corps.

Why on god's good earth would the the club risk that culture by putting any pressure on Jessie or considering trading him. I mean please. He is a loved team member who the club has nurtured and looked after during incredible personal issues. One of the brothers. Been at the club since he was 17 years old. The MFC is his his extended .Goody won't have it. And thank go for that.

What about trading Weed instead (jokes)?

succinct bin. and with that post your crystallised my feelings. i henceforth state i will never enter this bucket of turd again.

My view is Tom McDonald is our best key forward and we play our best football with one deep and another who roams.

Hogan is a proven performer and weid has played one amazing game.

I think all three can play but we need to work very hard on our connection. Hogan to me is at his best when he works right up the ground and runs back into the 50

I don’t know how more emphatic the club can be about Hogan not being traded. While I think Weed is an exciting prospect he really has only had the one dominant performance. Hogan is still number 1 IMO.

Another good performance by Weideman on Friday night.... I think he has arrived

What has impressed me is his tackling and his ability below the knees. In his VFL days he was always where the ball wasn't but not anymore it seems.

He’s a very nice kick and  disposes of it pretty well.  Improves a little with each game. As he gets stronger he’ll take some stopping.

Weed could well take Jesse out for a goal kicking session  .... classic smooth action.

And lets not forget that Tmac is 26. He was hot garbage when he first started playing.

Big man take a LONG time to develop. Jesse and Weids are already 10 times better than most KPFs their age. I would not contemplate moving either for any price, unless they were desperate to leave.

The rumour thetradewhisperer™️ is hearing is Neale to Brisbane for pick 5 and pick 5 and 7 to Melbourne for Hogan. This is the deal Fremantle are attempting to manufacture.

Pick 5 & 7 for Hogan would be about fair. Would absolutely hate to lose him however if he is just going to leave in FA anyway and we get a compo pick in the teens that's just [censored].

And thats what it would take.

2 high first rounders is about right for Hogan based on recent years horsetrading, but he obvs has to WANT to leave us..... and who in their right mind would?

Someone who is homesick notwithstanding what has been indicated about him being settled here

If we got to the point of discussing a trade with Freo, & two first rounders is the going rate, I’d be pushing for their highest pick this year and their 2019 1st rounder.  Then get into Josh Kelly with two 2019 1st rounders in the bank to offer GWS if Kelly hasn’t re-signed by this time next year.

And I'm very much in the 'keep Hogan' camp.

Rather take Pick 5 and Brayshaw's brother if that were to happen.

For the record Im against trading Hogan.

As long as we don’t get Ross!

Pick 5 will come from Neale trade. I can’t see them giving up Brayshaw and Neale in basically one trade, even if it’s for Hogan. They need to keep the few young guns they have.

The contested marking power of Tmac, Hogan, Sam W. and Trac up forward is awesome.

Or they could just be in each other's way.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
