Never said pressure was not there.

Great win, but we can do better

Yes. But it may be a war of pressure. Prelims and Grannies are rarely free flowing.

But i do hope you are right.

I thought the TEAM was really good tonight.

Jack Viney was huge last week and this week. He gives his all.

Can’t believe how calm I was throughout the game. Must be a sign of a great side developing maturity before my eyes.

Petracca needs to improve his delivery into the forward line, on 4 or 5 occasions, straight to Hawthorn players.

His positives made up for the errors, just those missed opportunities could turn a good game into a great game.

It's when he has time to think about it that he fluffs the kick. His two beauties tonight were under pressure with no time at all.

How sweet is this!

Feels like only yesterday I was posting about Jamie Bennell with Old dee or debating whether Scully would stay or go with RPFC.

Lap it up. Were finally playing a good brand of footy and have winners allover the park.

And they are tough DWA. Not one backward step from anyone. The Hawks tried to rough us up but we were having none of it gave as good as we got. Our tackling is ferocious.

PS Bennell who?

Fly

What a great outcome! I thought Hibbo, Jetta and Frost won it for us tonight.

When it counted, when we needed them, they stepped up!

Bring on the Eagles and let’s clip their wings (again)!

OMFG

What a mature performance. This team is building something special. How good was the "Melbourne" chant after the game?

GO YOU MIGHT DEMONS!!!!!

Jeez that was awesome, 2nd week of delirium spent with mine and another Demon loving family in their WA Games room and now thanks to that impressive performance an opportunity to transfer our noise and hopefully be well heard between the boooooooooos here at Optus. We are pumped!

Frosty - torp from full back, down the guts for a goal.

Spargo's goal from just insides 50 (when I said to my daughter he will set it up because he can't kick that far!)

Brayshaw's mark and goal in last quarter.

And Viney - very glad I never played in his era. Frightening footballer.

Max's towering mark.

So many of our boys giving it to Mitchell every chance they got.

Petracca laughing at the fool Sicily.

Hibberd's run-and-carry.

Thanks for the reminders.  The replay will be so enjoyable.

Trac laughing at Sicliy when Melk outmarked him was gold

Nev Jetta take a bow you put Luke Breust into nightmare mode for the next 6 months and kept him goaless. Who was the all Australian you or him? Well done Nev you helped us win this game.

Yes Neville Jetta not making the All Australian 40 Squad is an absolute disgrace.

Hang your head “experts”

Jack Viney you are a wrecking machine.  You really helped to wreck the Hawks Night.

At cricketers arms and cant get out the door. Been bought at least 3 drinks never, ever seen anything like this.

This team team means so much to people. Loving every second. Tell my wife il be home soon !!!

Un [censored] believable night really, just got home and about as excited as a pig in mud that’s about to mud wrestle Charlotte Theron.

A few observations from this epic evening:

1. Viney... just attacks everything almost in Melbourne like on past culture but this side is not a Melbourne side of the past, its a new unsociable never give up team, Viney is the flag bearer of that change and I am loving the ride

2. Weideman looks better every match, looked like he was going to be ok but could actually be mega

3. T-Mac killed them in the air, huge aerial threat throughout

4. Spargo, Melksham & Hannan did some super things, made a few errors but both brought great forward defensive pressure which was one of the key differences between the two teams

5. Brayshaw took a nice grab and slotted a couple of nice set shots but was easily beaten in every contest, just doesn’t look to cut it physically at this level

6. Hibbo, Frost and Jetta and superb in defense

7. Harmes super forward/defensive running yet again

8. Tyson just looks off the pace

9. Melbourne V Hawthorn crowds are normally quite civil affairs yet the moron in the Hawthorn jumper sitting behind me tonight was close to copping a left hook

10. Clary looked angry, specially the first quarter every time I looked for him he was on top of a different Hawk

11. The bald guy that looks like Paul Keating who seems to umpire all of our matches makes some bewildering decisions

All in all a great night and the sky is the limit.

Viney’s effort in the 3rd Quarter to get the ball out at CHF was just sublime

I thought that was the funniest moment of the night.

When Frosty took the kick out I was yelling NO! at the TV...I could here some of you lot in the crowd yelling no back through the TV.

Who would have thought. Seems like it was a pre planned move & it worked.

What a truly gutsy win!  One incident that typified our efforts was the incredible sprint by Hibberd to prevent the Hawks player having a certain goal by diving and smothering the ball/. I stood up and applauded loudly in my lounge room! Don't think he would have heard me though since I live in Perth. A couple of friends who follow the Weagles said to me before the game that they would sooner play Hawthorn in the prel final .Sorry guys ,you have got us.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
