So th e rule now is when a player goes to pic k up the ball you run straight at them, trip over and get the free.

Umpires gifting them the momentum killing breaks. The boys still got to work. We are peaking at the right time

The worst umpiring in a final in living memory wasn't enough to shake their determination.

Destroying Hawthorn was strangely unfulfilling .

We seek the grail.

[censored] YES YOU [censored] DEMONS!!! [censored] THE [censored] FILTER, WE [censored] BEAT THE HAWKS AND ARE INTO A [censored] PRELIM!!! [censored] [censored] [censored] YES!!!!

Roaming Bryan went to the ice baths and here is Crossy in there lol, even when not playing a true professional

Imagine beating Hawthorn to make a prelim then seeing BT’s head bopping around the changerooms.

Yuk.

I'm just looking through the stats.  I can't believe how little ball we had.  Our mids seemed to be everywhere, but only three players went over 20 disposals.  The Hawks had more inside 50s as well.  The stats really don't look like us winning by 30+ points and kicking over 100 points.

[censored]. Yes. Going to Perth

What was with Jetta? Nothing serious obviously

How good was Melkshams goal from 50 on the left foot to halt Hawthorns run.

Completely against the run of the umpires.

No passengers tonight, just 22 guys willing to put their heads and body on the line to win a contested ball. I have never in my 54 years supporting this club have seen and heard a Melbourne crowd like that.

Just an incredible game. We were sat in front of the Hawks standing area - an arrogance of Hawks.

Such great character in this team. As others have said, it is the future for these young guys that is so exciting.

This season has surpassed expectations by some distance. To have made the finals was already a big tick, but to win two finals ... phenomenal. Team is maturing before our eyes.

Now watch Goodwin win coach of the year. (toss up between him and Clarkson).

Clayton Oliver was hilarious on Roaming Brian.   Totally took the [censored] out of BT.

Felt so different at the ground to last week. Last week was emotional and a celebration, this was more like a difficult job at the coal face, done with minimum of fuss, and are rostered on for next week.

Hawks: Top 4 Flogs.

So happy that we had the honour of ending their year. What a night.

So at the start of the season I think we all agreed that finals was the minimum acceptable result.  Pretty sure we're all happy with what we've achieved now.  Let's just hope we manage two more.

Also, a bit of Spargo love please. Not big numbers, but all of them seem to be important numbers, and great to see him getting on the end of a couple.

We played average and won, many players down on what they can do, no excuses no, we got our get of jail free card, need all to lift, because if we do,we can break the curse

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
