The free kick against Jetta showed a complete inability to understand the game. A fair contest by two players both holding the ball should have been a ball up. No wonder Shocking Hocking wants to reduce the rule book. The game is getting overly technical.

The frees against Angus and Lewis were egregious errors and the umpire involved should serve a four week penalty and attend rule revision classes for 6 months. Where was the protection to the head? How else does a player on the ground attack the ball? The dork against Lewis seemed to fall over himself, not Lewis. Disgraceful and Shocking Hocking should lose his job if this is not fixed immediately.

Carey, Ling and Richo on tv all condemned the interpretation of the rule and stated that it should be examined. Could not agree more.

Hopefully last nights umps have been told to take the rest of the year off.

They deserve a rest.

Well the ones tonight are no better..worst umpiring in a final series I can remember.

that's what you get with semi-professional umpiring in a fully professional sport

these guys are way behind the times

afl's solution is to add more second rate umpires which just creates more second rate decisions

Nicholls, Chamberlain, Meredith

Not great.  Pleased about Razor.  Could be worse.

Let's hope Nicholls has sorted out the sliding rule!

I am hoping that the clowns will be aware of the “23rd Man” and given the personalities of 15 and 18 will take the opportunity to shove it right up the booing ferals. One can but hope! Go Dees.

Well Nicholls proved yet again he is a horrible umpire. Standing right in front of them during that incident and didn’t even reverse the free kick for a punch to the throat. He’s a despicable cheater. How the [censored] is he still employed?! It has to be some sort of conspiracy!

I don't know about conspiracy 'Travis' but I do know I enjoy any game he umpires less, whether we're in it or not.

He makes the game less enjoyable to watch.

Disgusting by umpire Nicholls. He is universally hated because he is a terrible umpire. How can the AFL umpiring department not see this when everyone else can?

Can't wait for the laughable decisions he comes up with if he gets a GF gig. Could hand one of the sides the cup.

No surprises that Nichols misses the GF.....he is a stain.

Matt Stevic, Shaun Ryan and Brett Rosebury are set to be unveiled on Tuesday morning as the official whistleblowers for Saturday’s blockbuster between West Coast and Collingwood at the MCG.

Not just 'The Brazilian', none of the umpires from our match made the GF. Razor the emergency is as close as they got. We clearly got the 2nd raters for our match (if we didn't know it already).

Now that we are a clearly top 6 club

Will we get better umpires next year and better tv coverage?

I can watch in comfort from home rather than finding a pub close by,  too far to attend each week   Got to 3 games this year  (plus finals)

still flat. But we did much better than 2017 but what s shite way to end the year

no goals 6 points to half time

what about the first 4 goals we gave them

go dees!

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
