So am i... I'm just starting to think towards the next moment.

We were warned last week, or before last match;,,  about celebrating... that still rings true, more-so now we have tasted some,,, success.

By Monday, we should all be letting this one rest,,, as we go deeper into springtime.

There's something about 'Mary in stripes',  in those pics... or maybe more about Nev, and Whelan ?

While we're on the topic of Geelong flogs.

Cameron Ling, you are a dead set [censored] stick! You carried on like an absolute [censored] when Geelong won down at Kardinia. Ran onto the field and celebrated with the players as if they'd won a grand final!

Last week you then had the nerve to say Melbourne will have the least likely success because we've had "no finals experience".. and will get knocked out 2st week.

To then hear sound like an absolute shattered and broken man after the game gives me great satisfaction and pleasure!

Suck [censored] you Geelong bias [censored]!

Everything from here on in is just gravy now. The season is a success. We get another game of finals experience to get into these guys now! Love this club like anything and wouldn’t trade it for the world. And I love you all as well ❤️

Drink it in man!

Agreed mate, before the season I had making 2nd week of finals as par. Last year making finals was par and we shot a bogey, this year we've made par as far as I'm concerned so if we hit a birdie or an eagle it's all bonus for me (I'm a golf novice so if I've muddled up my terms forgive me).

Weed has been a revelation for me, I didn't necessarily doubt him I just wanted to see it before I believed it. I did have lingering concerns he may be another Watts or even Lucas Cook but those have been violently laid to rest. What do we do next year when TMac, Weed and Hogan are all fit? Send TMac back? A nice problem to have.

I have had a lovely afternoon - kicked back and watched the replay and relived the glory of last night.

God we were good... tough and completely switched on right from the beginning.

I had a good look at the Geelong moron who dresses like a cat complete with the whiskers and claws - seriously??

My source tells me that the players all pulled up well after the game which is good.

Go Dees❤️?

Yep, I had exactly the same expectations. Also golf analogy was good. I’m a novice as well, last round of 9 I had shot a 53 :s

Love me a bit of mini golf!

To those at the G last night,  how was the roar from the crowd when the boys broke from the 3/4 time huddle!!

I've never heard anything quite like it during a break.

Chris Scott’s reaction during  last nights game. I wonder where the players get it from!!!

CLASSIC.

Cats have been outscored 23.16 (154) to 6.17.(53) in first quarters of their last 6 finals.

He really is biased.

He had Geelong as third most likely to win the flag.  I remember he prefaced it with something like 'I know I am a Cats man but'...   yeah Lingy, if you need to give that little disclaimer in your job as a commentator it just shows that even you know you're biased and full of [censored].

I watched the 7 replay on record.  Ling was very positive about MFC and very critical of Geelong

Highland, Islay, lowlands, speyside... I’ll drink them all !!! ?

With the really peaty ones maybe drop a frozen rock in there. The coldness takes the edge off the smokyness without diluting the whisky.

My wife prefers Islay, I prefer speyside so if I’m not feeling a Islay that day I’ll drop a cold rock in.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
