If Jack V and everyone respect and maintain the great midfield thats developed since his injury, then IMHO we might win some more games!

I suspect that will happen 'Rob' and that Jack will play more forward with a few cameo's in the middle (shake Ablett up a little).

I hope so anyway...

blood# flight has been cancelled , onward and upward from here, should still make it. Go Dees

The biggest game of the last dozen years, calls for an early thread...

I see us winning and comfortably, but can’t help but feel that accuracy will be the difference between setting up a meeting with Hawthorn or ending our season early.

So what, you're saying is that we will be the better team over the 4 quarters... have greater scoring shots, and still may lose? Yep, I'd go with that one too...

Just a reminder that JACK VINEY IS BACK TONIGHT AND WILL HAVE NO HESITATION IN DESTROYING ANY GEELONG PLAYER IN HIS PATH.

God I hope he takes abblett early. He would be [censored] himself

Got to get near him first ,like a SEAGULL waiting for someone to throw him a chip. Let's just tackle him without the ball and drive that shoulder into the turf anyway.

Relax... we've got this...Dees by 5 ( insert which ever happened goals/points ??? )

By hook or by crook we seem to be morphing a little from haphazardly moving the ball forward to a blitzkrieg with method.

Our two previous games decided by less than a goal's worth of points.

I seriously believe we're playing much better and smarter than in either/both of those outings.

Scott despite being particularly easy to deride is no fool.  He'll want to put us firmly on the back foot. The first quarter is about composure... getting the nerves and sense of occasion under control.

That said you don't play finals at 99% There's no tomorrow if not playing well today.

I'm sure Lewis is wording up the lads of what to expect...how to deal with expectations and how to get on with the footy.

I honestly think we'll win because we're a better side than got pipped on those two previous occasions.. and they aren't.

We're learning how to win games...not just play footy.

I feel a little nostalgic. Those around in 87/88 might remember. We were robbed in '7 and '8 became a mare. The swell is similar though.

Can we do this....yes we can !!

I was fine until I read all you forkers, now I feel sick.

Did a tarot reading last night on the result and pulled the Ace of Swords... we’ve got this. ??

Stoked that we’re back and gonna savour every moment tonight.

Go Dees!

Have just knocked off after doing a 12 hour nightshift.. holy [censored] im a nervous wreck!!?

You can have a sleep and wake up to rhe dees!

Heading into Melbourne in 30 mins time, got the day to get through then into the game.

Go hard or go home.

Those pvssies need a smile wiped.

Time to make Danger and his fellow kittylitterers CRY !!

( and Scott's head explode )

Chris Scott has only won 3 of his last 11 finals, if Dees win I will personally deliver a bunch of flowers to his Geelong Waterfront apartment (after pissing on them) ?

Big Lunch , reserved seat, few beers at the G,  2 hours watching us take Geelong down.

I must be in heaven.

Huge Night, Huge Game, Gotta focus @ work somehow today...

I was there in 2006 when we took out The Saints with my 12 year old son. He's now 24, long time between drinks, We Got this.

I'm a mess - Go Dee's ?

At the airport waiting for my flight to Melb. Few other Dees here which is nice to see.

Lunch in the city with the brother-in-law. Few beers through the arvo with old mate who's flying down from Cairns for the game. Dinner and drinks with family and then walk to the 'g. Going to take a serious effort to remain tidy by game time.

The bye took a bit of the edge off for me...not being in Melb probably contributed too. Feeling it now though, pumped!

I just put the weetbix packet in the fridge. I have done that before, I remember it was in 2000 because I was going to the Grand Final and couldn't find my keys. They were on the weetbix packet in the fridge. Go Dees!

Edit:- I'd better not use machinery or drive heavy vehicles today.

Not nervous, just freaking excited.  Reckon the nerves will kick in as the team run to position.  So hoping we can give a great account of ourselves.  Dees by 26

Well I’m shitin bricks already. Gunna be a long day.

Remember the cats normally don’t play well after they have a week off which is positive for us. Hopefully the trend continues tonight.

I am beyond excited. I couldn't sleep last night. Don't know how I am going to last until tonight.

The two clubs that have embarrassed us most over the last 30 years have been Hawthorn and Geelong.

There would be nothing more glorious or fitting than dispatching both in consecutive weeks.

Am I that lucky ?

Not nervous  really confident, not over the top though. I am usually very pessimistic but feel we will win by 36 points or so.

Remember. Our last two games have been elimination games, we have been in finals routine for 3 weeks, just getting better and better.

And I cannot see any of our players taking this game lightly and just expect to win!

not after the two so so close games. It will not be easy. Frost onto Hawkins they won’t have enough power up front.

selwood danger Ablett. See Oliver Brayshaw and viney. We are as good. No we are better than those old men!

hawthorns Burgoyne last night showed finals are no place for old men to be prime movers. Experience can ice the cake and save it but it’s the youth that will win it.

Go Dees !!

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
