My understanding is that, with that result, we win tomorrow, we play Week 1 and 2 at the G... that’s a good result.

That's the way I have it. Hawks if we beat GWS and Cats probably

Bernie Vince copped absolute crap for smiling after a loss and nearly every Swan was joking with the Hawks after the game.

We won’t hear a word about it nor should we.

Richmond vs Hawthorn in a final ... first time ever?

Not necessarily... If WC lose by a few goals they'll drop to 4th n play Tiges,  Pies would host Hawks

It doesn’t end there. West Coast lose tomorrow and the filth get a home final

Correct,  sorry!

If WCE lose,  you can add them as an option for week two of the finals.

Week 1:
Geelong @ mcg (if we win tomorrow) or GWS @ spotless (if we lose)

Week 2
Rich or Haw @ mcg

Week 3
WCE or Coll

There are no other permutations.

Exactly - a good results for us and a bad results for my final round of tipping.

You’ve done a better job than I could with these things so don’t apologise!

So i take it ...win and we play Geelong at the G, lose and we play Sydney SCG.

No lose and we play GWs at spotless

Yeah I edited my post with that info - such a tight race with percentage tight as well

And who is to say Brisbane can't win by a few goals?

But Richmond have never played the Hawks in a final and that still may not happen!

And it's been 79 years since the Pies,  Tigers & Demons all played in the same final series.  1939.

Just makes tomorrow’s game a mini final. Win and we’re half a chance to make a prelim.

I reckon BNE will win

WC win and we lose and 3 interstate finals first week.

I can see the AFL cheering for us to win with a 85-90000 final at the G the result.

From what I have seen today both the filth and hawks will go out in strait sets.

It’s the right thing to do,

Look I don't really mind hawthorn. Maybe its because I admire the way Clarko can get his team up and about. He has players either moved on or leave and he just get new ones in that he gets to play the hawthorn way. Maybe because Clarko wasn't ever the superstar footballer but has become a great coach. Maybe I liked the way he had the guts to call out james hird and the essendon saga when no one else had the guts to. You look at the superstar players like Hird, Watson and Voss who never succeeded in coaching.

Anyway I reckon they can beat Richmond the first week and I hope they do.

Now we need to win tomorrow for that home final. That's all that matters.

My god just saw the carlton score. That is terrible. wow

Actually,  I just calculated if WC lose by 1 point their percentage will be well below both Haw n Col.

I’d much rather Hawthorn on the last day in September than a Collingwood v Richmond Grand final.

Yes, but the backbone of the team and most of the key playmakers, is still that same bunch of senior players with finals experience. Plus Tom Mitchell (enough said).

No. Brisbane have run out of steam.

The yellow represents the nugget of corn that just doesn't get digested.

Seeing that Carlton result made me think. It’s amazing that two years ago this weekend we lost to Geelong by over 100. We really have come a long way.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
