Good question, they were 11-4 and will miss.

Thats a massive choke.  Ollie Wines re-signed at that stage too if I recall correctly.

Should have come back to Vic.

Wattsy starring with 3 handballs at quarter time.

Big improvement on his stats halfway through the quarter though.

Does the AFL hire police for matches? They're even waiting outside the coaches box to escort the coaches to the ground!

Didn't realise you could hire out a copper.

I'm guessing that the 250 point win Port needed to pass is on percentage is less likely to happen now.

My god can someone tell port that they can be 8th spot tonight?

Thankgod the bummers can't make finals.

This is a disgraceful strat from port.

I wanted them in 8th so at least geelong had to earn there spot.

I know the cats won't lose but it would have made it kind of interesting.

So looks like we would have made finals regardless of a win? And to think port were 11-4 at round 16...

Jack Watts has been abysmal so far.

The only one for Port who hasn't would be Ryder.

Port look like a defeated rabble. Not even trying.

So let me clear this in my head, Essendon pantsing Port means that in the end, we didn't actually need to win a game to make the finals anyway?

Well, I've had a dry chuckle about that.

But, as my lovely other half so perfectly put it "Well, ok, but this way is much nicer".

This Port Adelaide teams smells like the team Voss had in Brisbane, when they went and got Fevola, Staker, Raines etc for [censored] all return and ultimately Voss lost his Job.

Hinkley and co have misread this list massively and its going to set them back years of lost talent due to recruiting dud recycled players.

Guess it looks like Kenny asked for Vossy's advice and trusted his assistant too the silly fool.

God i hate Essendon, and even more in those stupid jumpers. So glad they didnt make finals......rant over.

And to think some posters on here still think Watts would still play an important role for us right now...

He'll be delisted end of next year.

Still think Port will win this.

Lot of footy to play.

Now, where did I leave my beer....?

What is it with umpires paying random half-marks at Adelaide Oval in Port games?

Bit reminiscent of Melbourne vs Collingwood in the final round last year.

We won a spot in the finals before getting it handed to us. How could you not love that?

Port players are ignoring Watts at every turn now just like Melbourne players did.

Watching this game between the 9th and 10th best team, we are clearly a top 8 side. Melbourne's footy is streets ahead of what these teams are producing.

There is great joy in watching two arrogant clubs which tried to bulk-buy their way into finals each taking turns at being thoroughly crapulent.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
