This thread hasnt been as silly as i thought it would be, we had the structures wrong this week with pedo playing back.

Dont want to make changes for the sake of changes so in saying that Hunt didnt finish the game. So easy one is hibberd for hunt. Spargo and garlett really struggled today. Id say spargo for melksham. Once pedo moved forward we were way to slow, his relief ruck work is barely competitive anymore. Weids rucking is better than pedos and tmacs, but not offering enough elsewhere yet. I feel if he were to com in it would be for vandenburg. But with gawn struggling with a minor calf injury may be the option. Pedo was brought in as a back so would wagner be next off the bench?

Could make a case for garlett out and kent in. Vandenburg really struggled and could make a case for bugg or Hannan but Hannan has been underwhelming and disappears for large portions of the game. We all know what bugg will bring but also know what bugg will bring.

Spargo made 2 types of error: 1 - couldn't kick it far enough, failing to make the distance or giving it off. 2 - couldn't hold his tackles. I'm happy to live with both whilst he brings a good work rate, clean skills and smarts. He'll get stronger over the summer and be finishing off his work better.

Garlett make 1 type of error over and over again - being soft as butter. That has to go. Goodbye.

ANB probably won't get dropped. More likely to see Spargs miss or Hannan not come in. But ANB has botched his disposals over and over again and it's time to say we'll do without it. He runs all day and keeps having a go but at some stage that's just not enough and he isn't getting better.

I was sure Goodwin said last week in his post match presser that Hunt wasn’t ready. Yet he played today and was absolutely cooked. We basically went in with two unfit players in Gawn and Hunt. 

Gawn you of course play, on half a leg he is still better than anyone else we have. But Hunt? Really? He was in shocking form pre injury, and nothing has changed.

Yeah you are right . . . we are thin after player 18 i recon.

Does it really matter. Other than Viney and Hibberd the rest of possible ins are not much better than the 6 or so we want out. I believe we have only 15 AFL players and the rest just good , ordinary VFL players. If our top 15 don't play at their best then we are done like today.

We lost to a beat up ageing Swans team, the same team that lost to Gold Coast, who's coach took us to school in their own back half. 

Every team that is half decent have played 2 spares behind the ball and us as the dumb mike hunts we are just continually keep kicking it down their throats.

Our coaches continually keep sending out the same [censored] up instructions, its has a really deflating effect on the team and supporters at the ground.

That along with our horrific Goalkicking absolutely destroyed us, when the pressure and expectation is on we go to water, we dont have the mental capabilities to deal with the hype.

I'm prepared to roll the dice on A-grade talent to try to make the finals than save the A-grade talent and risk missing the finals altogether so that we can keep playing VFL-level players in their place.

Posted on another thread that I spoke to Hunt at last week's game.and he told me his VFL form was rusty. I was staggered to see him selected off the back of one rusty game at Casey.  Also he has been coached out of form. He now second guesses everything he does and no longer backs himself and plays on instinct

If Hibberd needs another week, he needs it.

A thigh will go early if he's not a 100%, then we are one down. Hardly the way to win a game.

He may well be chasing that injury for the rest of his career if he does further damage.

I get players playing sore or not at 100% but something like this is not smart.

Similar to Viney last year, it just screws things up down the track.

If he's not fit enough, we won't play him, don't disagree with you there.

Initially I thought you were advocating for resting him to "save" him for finals if we make it, which I did not agree with.

Ultimately if he and Melksham are fit enough to play, they come straight back. If they're not, then we don't play them. But we don't hold either of them back in an effort to maximise our chance of winning a final.

Hunt looks a totally different player , no zip at all.

Spargo needs another preseason to match it with the big boys.

Hunt looked to have elite speed last year.

Cannot put space or close down anyone now. Until he finds that, he is useless. 

Spargo actually needs  rest cause he was a liability  today.

Hunt had a back injury all pre-season. He's now injured his foot twice this season also. The back injury and pre-season issues have obviously effected his fitness and he's lost confidence in himself as a result. It's a real shame as he was one of our best players in 2017 and looked set to become an All Australian HBF this year. I still have faith he'll come good, but he needs to take time to get his body right and use that pace with full confidence again.

Spargo looks cooked. I rate him and think he's a long term player for us, but he looks spent this past few weeks and should probably be out of the team for someone like Kent or Bugg.
